It's funny how much more i appreciated how good Calzaghe was until he retired, especially when you look at what's on show at 168-175. Calzaghe wold eat all of them, even this version of Calzaghe. Maybe Chad Dawson would give Calzaghe a tough fight but even that would end up a comfortable for the taff.
Calzaghe's super skilled and a one-off. Real boxing fans will appreciate how good Calzaghe was and what he has achieved. Nearly all fighters should have done this and done that sooner, blah blah, but you can't just pin on Calzaghe, fess up.
**** it! I want Calzaghe to come back. There, i said it!
He beat an on his way to 50 (43 but **** that's old!) Bernard Hopkins and for that he received more credit than Jermain Taylor ever got for beating a better version.
He was dropped on his ass on both occasions.
His fans call him an ATG.
Need more of a reason to not respect a fighter??? Most fighters are fighting veterans to gain experience so they are ready for championship fights, Cazaghe did it so he could get a few shells of great fighters on his resume. But it fails and after Sven Otke, Marciano and a few other noticeable fighters who tried the same trick, people are no longer falling for it, they make questions.
Questions like "if he's so good why was he dropped against both Roy and Bernard, who hadn't scored KO's in years?" "Why doesn't he want to face the division's champion after Bernard and goes for Jones?" "Couldn't he have Jones and then the champion?" "Why over a decade in Europe? What were you hiding?"
Smart people ask questions, dumb ass sheep, they don't.

while hopkins fought 16 out of his 20 title defenses against top 10 guys. he also won the title from mercado and lost it to taylor who were in the top 10. calzaghe beat eubank for the title who hadn't been in the top 10 for 2 years after he fell off.
and as far as being scared of coming to america. calzaghe was literally scared of coming to america. he said he was scared of flying lol! his fear suddenly subsided when hopkins and jones looked beatable though which is strange.
I said a long time ago that people wouldn't appreciate Joe Calzaghe until long after he's gone. In time we will see that this is how it's gonna be.
