I’d agree that one can’t really argue that Wilder ducked Povetkin. But it’s worth noting that Wilder only signed on to that fight because it was his mandatory and came with a record high purse at the time. Since it fell through back in 2016, Wilder made no attempt to fight him or pretty much any other decent fighter for that matter. Compare that to Whyte calling out Povetkin when nothing was at stake, after chasing Wilder for years. Wilder may not have ducked in this case, but he has never chased any perceived challenge.
With regards to Whyte, he was ducked by Wilder 100% and that condition Wilder gave was pure BS. Regardless of what people say on here, Hearn doesn’t own AJ and can’t offer him on a plate like that..it’s a fight that would need extensive negotiation on its own merit. Did Wilder need any guarantees to fight Duhaupas, Washington, Szipilka or any other fighter for that matter?
The fact is Wilder avoided his biggest pay day at the time, exposure to the biggest boxing market outside the US and the opportunity to back AJ into a corner. If that’s not a duck then I don’t know what is.
I think Whyte probably fits into that category too but, again, that's a matter of personal opinion, you see it differently.

He is vastly overrated, has never been a champion, never took on a challenge, got passed up multiple times by guys who debuted nearly a decade after him, backs out of most big fights with weak medical excuses, fought mostly leftovers, and now he's old.
That doesn't make him not a good win for Wilder coming off a humiliating KO loss.
Dillian has taken double the 0's as Pov, stopped and stopped at least 3 celebrated HWs from getting into title contention while his time on top the WBC ranking. Also a good win for Wilder coming off a humiliating KO loss.
One's undersized and old, he'll get ktfo just like the other undersized old HW Wilder's fought.
The other is fat and slow, he'll get KO'd just like the other fat, slow, plodder Wilder's KO'd.
I don't see them as proper challenges for Deontay, no, but fine fights plenty of people will be invested in. I'd rather see Ruiz, Usyk-Joyce winner, Hrogovic-Hunter winner, as these fighters still have yet to reveal their limits while Pov and Whyte are known limited fighters with little hope of actually ever being champion, or of course Ruiz, former unified champion who has overcome his limits before and proven his ability to.
All losses to both have come from other top ranked guys ,that doesn’t mean they are average that’s some newbie talk right there you keep propping Wilder up as though he’s untouchable with guys like Povetkin nand Whyte and any who knows boxing knows that’s a lie especially after a loss and with no wins with top punchers ,don’t tell me you think Breazeale is ranked over them either I saw you do that as well while calling out my rankings .Last edited by REDEEMER; 03-18-2021, 06:28 PM.

If Povetkin beats Whyte again, he will want to fight Fury -Joshua winner or Joyce - Usyk winner. So I like the idea Wilder -Whyte anyway.

Insane. it was clear Wilder was just throwing road blocks up all the time. Even some of the deranged have accepted the truth. But it's clear not all of them have...
You mean the Ortiz fight where his team said they weren't ready for that date only to fight on that exact date? Wilder and Ortiz stand out for obvious reasons in who they fight. No other top 10 is such a joke as those two.
Haymon set it up so Whyte wouldn't accept that mandatory fight with Brezeale on 2 weeks notice. Brezeale refused the fight beforehand when Dillian was ready. Only an extremist believes any of this madness. I can clearly see you're still on that train. Good job we've finally got rid of that coward Wilder. It only took nearly 6 years. That's how insane it got.
Good bye.
There were never any dates proposed for Ortiz or Brezeale. Whyte was complaining about not having a shot, and Breazeale offered to fight him, for the mandatory position. Breazeale didn't have an upcoming fight. Neither did Ortiz, when Wilder said he'd fight Whyte if Whyte were to beat Ortiz. In fact, the excuse Whyte used was that Ortiz was too old...
As for the AJ situation, all Wilder wanted was a guarantee from Hearn that the AJ fight was next, and he would've fought Whyte. Nobody expected Hearn to have 2 contracts ready, don't be ridiculous.
As for the 50/50, that's another excuse. Fighters can ask for whatever they want, unless you're Terence Crawford and Cleary state that's all you're accepting, it's a negotiation tactic. Don't be ******. Last I recall Wilder also accepted a 15 million flat fee for the fight. That's not 50/50.
As for being done with Wilder, quit believing everything Hearn tells you, and wait for a fight date to be announced. Besides the fact Fury is still in court, there's all of a sudden a 30 day stipulation on a location, or the fight supposedly falls apart.
