Comments Thread For: Shields: I Want At Least $1M To Lose My Butt, Move Down To 147 To Fight Katie Taylor

Claressa Shields is willing to shed seven more pounds to fight Katie Taylor, but only for what she considers an appropriate purse. Shields declared her willingness to box the unbeaten Taylor at a catch weight of 147 pounds after defeating Marie-Eve Dicaire on Friday night to fully unify the 154-pound titles. Ireland's Taylor is women's boxing's undisputed lightweight champion, though she has competed at the junior welterweight limit of 140 pounds.

There is NO WOMAN who deserves a $1 million purse in todays professional boxing. Shields, how many years did she put in as an amateur learning the trade? How long has she even been boxing? And what boxing fan would put up their hard earned money to watch a PPV headlined by essentially amateur boxers?

You can push that they are professionals down my throat, but you'll never get my money to watch 2 amateur woman box. (I can't even stomach to watch woman fight for free) They'll have to have a super packed undercard, and I mean SUPER PACKED undercard of men to sell that PPV.

    $1 Million? Lmfao!!! ..........Rockin'

Im not about counting other people's pockets. I want fighters and people in general to get paid well. Lol I dont want her losing that butt either...thang is nice lol. The Savannah Marshall fight is cool and the winner of this weekend's fight works too. I'd love to see her get in with the other women to headline a ppv in Laila Ali. The trash talk would be great but I heard Laila wanted 10 million. At least these girls are fighting unlike the men

...but a showdown with Shields would generate more money and attention for Taylor.
Are you sure? Maybe Hearn's wallet, deffo not free market.
Maybe PPV numbers can tell us about Shields' "attention"?

I actually like the fight between Shields and Katie Taylor. I thinks its high time Taylor started challenging herself instead of defending against or beating up these part time waitresses....but I won't hold my breath waiting on her to seek a real challenge after watching her lose 2 fights to Delfine Persoon and get the nod both times....I don't think poor Katie is in any real hurry to get in there with anyone else that may have a chance to beat her anytime soon so obviously she'll duck the fight.....chalk it up to that good ol weak European mentality I guess lol.

Katie Taylor won't want that smoke. Even against a weight drained Shields.

Claressa should go after Savannah Marshall and avenge that defeat in the amateurs.

Katie doesn't have stopping power at 140 and struggles to keep fighters off her, she's going to struggle even more at 147
