Dzinziruk Dumping Universum For Paul Williams Fallout

WBО light middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk is leaving Universum Box Promotion and will seek a new promoter in the United States. This year the champion hasn’t fought even once. At first, his bout with James Kirkland had broken down and now the fight with Paul Williams, which was set to take place on October 3, also isn’t going to happen. The American boxer will take on Kelly Pavlik on the same date. [details]

      Good on him.

Personnally I think he is the best JMW nad he might be past it or getting there with age and can't be kept on the shelv cuz those guys can't get him a fight.

He will sign with GBP as rumored probably.

      Universum is falling apart.

I'd rather hang myself than work with Germans again," - claimed the Ukrainian boxer.

That's pretty funny. Sergei Dzinziruk has the right attitude though of wanting to get it on with the best. You can't fault Paul Williams for taking a more lucrative fight against Kelly Pavlik. I agree that Universum wants to hold their fighters back from the big time fights like they did with Sturm. But the fact that Williams went in another direction and James Kirkland got locked up is something that neither Dzinziruk or Universum have any control over.

Universum (Kohl) is the author of his own misfortune by holding fighters back from facing better opposition, and keeping them inactive.

They ruined Vladimir Virchis and hurt the development of Alexander Dimitrenko with inactivity. They had the talented Alexander Alexeev face nothing but low-level, low-price bums, and then when he fought a real live opponent he wasn't prepared for it. They've overprotected Zsolt Erdei with the co-operation of the WBO.
