They are trying to weaken Cotto by making him lose that extra lb or 2. When you're dehydrating to make weight, every lb u try to lose is torture.

foreal though, why am I explaining weigh ins. Everyone knows Manny weighed in at 148 during his fight night, for a 140 fight. That doesnt make Manny a welterweight.

Clottey, mosley, and Cotto dont weigh in at 148 the day of the fight, it's 147 the day before. Then they baloon up to 160. Clottey balooned up to 170 on one of his fight nights. Does that make Clottey a middle weight?

I thought this was common knowledge among anyone who knows boxing

      Am I missing something here...

This is what happens in boxing. There's a weigh in, the day BEFORE the fight. Boxers replenish and gain weight. Normally about 8+lbs.

So, true, Manny came in at 148 during the fight, but made 140 the day BEFORE to make it a JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT bout

What you failed to mention. Cotto weighed in at his WELTERWEIGHT fight with clottey at 146. the day BEFORE the fight.

During the fight, it was never said, we're guessing was around 156-160 But in past fights, it was noted that Cotto replenishes around 160+. This is boxers taking advantage of their weight classes. Why Im explaining this to someone who supposedly knows something about boxing is confusing me.

so, to break it down. Manny will come in around 148 during the fight, the SAME he weighed in as a JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT during FIGHT NIGHT. Cotto, on the other hand, although weighing in at 145 the day BEFORE the fight, will come in at possibly 160+ at FIGHT NIGHT

now, Manny at 148 vs Cotto at 160, we know who has the advantage.

if you want to argue that Manny came in before at 147 vs ODLH, we must remind all the idiots that he weighed in at 148 during the fight. It was a once time deal, as he went back down to fight Hatton. Again, since people have trouble reading and understand simple concepts, Let me re-iterate that Cotto will weigh over that, likely at 156+

Okay, after this post I think we might need to try morse code, failing that strobe lighting.

IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WETHER PAC FIGHTS COTTO AT 145-147, COTTO IS STILL GOING TO REHYDRATE TO NEARLY 160 ANYWAYS. PAC CAME IN AT 148 ON FIGHT NIGHT AT HIS LAST FIGHT, THATS THE SAME WEIGHT MAYWEATHER COMES IN AT FOR WELTERWEIGHT SO ITS SAFE TO SAY PAC CAN FIGHT AT 147.

PAC FIGHTING COTTO AT 145-146 DOESNT STOP COTTO OUTWEIGHING HIM ON FIGHT NIGHT, ITS JUST MEANS COTTO MAY POSSIBLY HAVE TO DRAIN MORE TO GET DOWN TO THE WEIGHT.

cotto already said that he's gonna gain 7-9pds max

that's 154 not 160+ like some people said

then by that logic, why is Cotto fighting at welterweight? Since he hydrates to 160. He should be taking on bigger fighters at light middleweight, or even middle weight. is he being a *****?

First of I think Weigh-ins should be no more then two hours before the fight and not the BS of 24 or more hours before the fight.

On weight it all depends on how hard it is for Cotto to make the weight and how much of him self he is going to leave in the gym.
Old example but it applies ?Paulie hurt Cotto in the 7th Round ?What led to this? A perfect punch!! Or Cotto being spent from making weight!!
Chop Chop had Cotto out on his feet ?what led to this ?a perfect punch - Or Cotto being spent from making weight!!
He Who is asking to make the fight should make the weight sacrifice- Plain and simple.
If Cotto is calling for PAC then Cotto should make PAC’s weight.
If PAC is calling for Cotto then PAC should make Cotto’s weight.

Will alot of you still cry weight drain or an unfair fight for Cotto? Why doesnt anyone see Manny's disadvantage of fighting a much bigger fighter. Fight night, we know Cotto will weigh in around 156+, while Manny will be at 149 tops. And alot of you still want Manny to move up to 147 at the weigh in. I dont understand it, why would Cotto be the victim at 145.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that Cotto is the bigger fighter and Manny is disadvantaged stepping in against someone alot bigger. The weigh drained myth is over exaggerated, especially over 1-2lbs.

To make things fair, Manny would feel comfortable with a 147 weigh in at fight night. Cotto would probably get killed if he weighted in at 147 right before he stepped in the ring, but 147 is the welterweight limit. would a 147 fight night weigh in be fair?

Safe? Cotto can brutally KO Pacquiao just by that massive difference (10-12lbs) in weight! What is safe about that?

It's because, this early, the Cotto fans in this site are preparing their excuse already, in case their man loses they will all cry "weight-drain" and won't recognize Pacquiao's greatness.
