Miguel Cotto-Joshua Clottey: Pre-Fight Report Card

cotto's gonna win,

the begining i expect will be slow for the first 3 rounds with cotto boxing,
as the fight goes to the middle i still see cotto winning more rounds
going to the body, ex. i think the latter rounds will be clottey,

but all in all i dont think clottey has the power, or workrate to win.

Cotto wins a tough entertaining fight with scores of 116-112, 117-111, and 115-113. I definetly wouldn't count Clottey out because he's definetly a tough dude but like the article says, it's not worth betting on

Clottey is a good fighter, I can't say anything bad about him, and won't, but i just think Cotto is the better fighter. A Cotto win here. Tko around the 7-8 rounds. His left hook to the liver is devistating.

Should be a great fight. Both fighters have earned ( at least to me) a great deal of respect throughout there careers. Should be an action-packed fight. I do think that these report cards are extremly flawed though. Clottey has a huge edge in the intangible section. Cotto's chin is very very weak, and he is MUCH smaller than Clottey. Clottey on the other hand can take a punch, and stalk Cotto, and break his will. I think that Cotto is not tough enough to win this fight. THe left hook to the body is open to him, due to Clottey's defensive position, but clottey is going to wear him down, and Cotto's chin, and size disadvantages will lose the fight for him. I'm damn exicted for this one, it'll be good.

Very weak? In the Margarito fight, he was getting hit with everything (literally) and he never went down. Sure he's been rocked, tell me a fighter that who hasn't and I'll call him a liar. Since his move to WW he's been a steady force.

I don't think you can say Clottey's ''intangibles'' merit being rated higher than Cotto's. As the article stated, Cotto's level of competition and ability to come back from being rocked to win is immeasurable. Clottey hasn't fought 1/10 the comp that Cotto has.

As for size advantage, the weigh in showed Cotto to be a bigger man...we'll see how it is after they rehydrate. Clottey has never worn anyone down before, so you think he's going to wear down a man better than him in every imaginable way?

I hope the fight is good tonight. I don't really care who wins just so it's fair and square. I have to give Clottey props for fighting Cotto at the Garden. I just think that Cotto is gonna win the fight, because Clottey has a history of frustration and concede when things get tough.

What kind of advantages do you think Clottey has besides his better defense? I don't think the guy is offensively consistent and I think that's why Cotto picked the right guy to look good against. Those long breaks that Clottey takes during rounds is gonna cost him in this fight in my view. He also lacks mental toughness at the elite level. He wanted to pack it in on his stool in the Margarito fight because of a hand injury and his corner had to convince him to come out for the next round. Gatti and Mayweather fought through hand injuries. Once Cotto wins this fight, he better show some interest in rematching Shane Mosley and the same goes for Mosley too.
