For all the young boxers out there looking to one day become professionals, this is exactly why it’s best to treat your opponent with respect and dignity in the media. Injuries happen, and they are usually nobody’s fault. It’s simply just part of the sport and most fans understand this. But after endlessly mocking Wlad and his brother and portraying images of their decapitation, Haye left himself open for public criticism for what ordinarily would be a totally justified reason for pulling out of a fight.

Like I said, most fans will see this as nothing more that a disappointing turn of luck. But even the most logical of boxing fans will have to admit that some of the gleam from Haye’s star is now somewhat tarnished, and he has no one to blame but himself for that impression.

The lesson here is to be careful on how you carry yourself because public opinion matters greatly when you are an entertainer like boxers are.

For one thing, there is no guarantee that Haye will be ready on July 11th - what if his back doesn't heal in time? It's a big risk, and two postponements would be a lot worse than one. Then there's the problem of whether the German TV company RTL, and HBO, will be happy to go with the new date. RTL will be showing the German Grand Prix on that date, and Felix Sturm is defending his WBA middleweight title in Germany on a rival TV channel on the same day. HBO also already has a fight scheduled for July 11th. I wouldn't blame Wlad at all for sticking with the original date and fighting Chagaev, who is a very credible opponent, and who is fit - although I hope it does get postponed to July 11th.
My instinct is he's looking for any excuse to not fight Haye (I'm picking Wlad to win btw), between this and the way the negotiations went he doesn't seem keen on this fight at all. Injuries happen, the set back is only 3 weeks and if HBO and RTL are happy with the new date there's no reason why this fight shouldn't go ahead.

First he loses money and 2nd if Wlad the Chicken Klitschko does (as he looks like to) not fight Haye. It means Haye will probably have to wait 2 years to be a mandatory to a hw title for a shot.. he cant go back down to crusier cause he is to big and was killing himself pre weight gain..

So yeah smart one Klit fans Haye is ducking this fight he chased for year, so he can lose money and spend 2 years fighting his way up, god you are ****ing dumb...
You're right, it makes no sense why Haye would pull out of the biggest fight/payday of his career if he wasn't injured, especially when he plans on retiring in the near future.
