I got on his espn chat in the lead-up to the Cotto-Margarito fight and he said he was picking Margarito because of Miguel's vulnerability to uppercuts. He was dead on about that. One good point that he makes regarding this fight is that Floyd only throws one punch at a time these days. He praised the combination punching ability of JMM which is spot on. Marquez puts sick combinations together.
skillwise, no one can doubt that jmm can compete w/ floyd, but jmm just doesn't have enough size to make teh fight truly competitive.

If its Kool-Aid, I will drink it.
I sure as hell am going to go watch this with some friends. its Mayweather's first fight back in years, and I get to see a Marquez fight! How could I not miss this?
people really underestimate how popular he is...everyone knows his name nowadays.
Im not saying its going to do phenomenal PPV numbers, because Marquez isnt THAT well known...but you put Mayweather up against very popular names, and you have a ton of public interest.
and Im going to go ahead and guess that the fight will be pretty entertaining, and not too one sided either. I think Mayweather will show some ring rust, and Marquez has become more and more entertaining over the years.

I think it will do better than 500k fairly easily.
If it does 500k, I know Floyd isn't getting 15 million guaranteed.
I bet they promote the **** out of this and it goes to near 800 k.
I can't see how they wouldn't.

In my head, however, I don't think I agree that this fight will garner "a ton of public interest". At ringside you'll see A LOT of top tier fighters, but as far as the general public goes, I can't see this being even half of the recent Pac/Hatton fight. I predict 450k on the PPV numbers. You really think Marquez is a bonafide star in the US?
and whenever Im at a bar watching a fight and Mayweather is shown, he always gets a ton of cheers. and of course, hes American, so you could guess that Americans are naturally going to be more interested in his fights.
If Hatton-Pacquiao(2 non-US fighters) can get so much attention, then I wouldnt be surprised if Mayweather-Marquez did close to as good as it. Mayweather retired while he was still on top, and people always seem to be interested with comeback fights(like Tyson-McNeely).
throw in the fact that Marquez is coming off arguably the biggest win of his career against Juan Diaz and that hes the current P4P #2, and THEN add in the fact that the winner will very likely fight Pacquiao soon, and imo this fight has a lot of potential in terms of popularity.
I think its going to be an entertaining fight too. Mayweather might be a little rusty, which would make him rely more on his skills and less on his physical attributes, and probably wont run away as much as usual.

HBO knows how to get the public to buy into a fight, they are the experts of this medium and they seem to think Floyd will do big things in his comeback.
I expect the event to make money though (which has to be like 650k+ buys), how much money I can not say.

There is no way if you love boxing that you won't see this fight, They are both 2 of my best fighters of all time, just to be able to see fight again a boxing maestro as Mayweather with a true warrior as JMM...I'm buying, worth $50? obviously...
I don't think is going to be a boring fight, I think if Mayweather wants to hype his fight with PAC he is going to have to make it entertaining...I also think that true Champions rise above expectations when challenged, I think PAC just did that in a demolishing way with his last 2 oponents...thus pressuring Mayweather to perform at his best for the next 5 fights at least if he wants a true legacy...
I am Mexican and living in Mexico, and I think Marquez will get far more support than before, JMM has earned his spot very well in the last years within the boxing fans...and with Margarito out of the picture, even more so...
One thing I still don't understand is why americans, being so Patriotic, won't back and support the best american boxer of this era!. I truly can't understand it!, $50 USD to suport your true champion...nonsense...

pbf has shown in the past that he don't care about boos, he just wants the W.
