He would have had to work for the victory because Shane has a lot more pop than Floyd. Margo did get found out to be a cheating scum bag so he isn't even a factor anymore in my book, but it's just the idea that he was a worthy opponent for Floyd in a lot of people's view, especially after he smashed Cotto.
Maybe it would not have been a devastating beat down like
what Shane gave him because of Floyd's safety first defensive
style but Mayweather is too good to let Margarito beat him
just because he has a punchers chance. Look at Margarito's
fight game? 1 dimensional, wide looping shots and pressure.
Floyd would have fought Margarito similiar to Baldomir/De La Hoya
and it would have been a very boring fight but who knows.
Margarito is a very average fighter and I think Paul Williams
showed that if you have a game plan and boxing skills then you
can beat him. Mosley showed it too. Margarito beat Cotto
because Cotto didn't have a game plan and basically got
discourage because his power wasn't enough to do the job
and he didn't know how to adapt. Some debate that it was
the plaster but Margarito's chin showed that Cotto had no
power to give him any problems. Cotto/Mayweather are in
two different classes. Mayweather is technically a better
and sound boxer than Cotto and if people debate me on that
then it's not about boxing because clearly Floyd tops Cotto
in every department except power. Shane, whupped Margarito
because Margarito's style was custom made for Shane to swing
them power shots and Margo's head would be right there and
Shane even said it.......Anyways Margarito was always a bum.

If he follows through with most of the names on that list and fights them, how can you not give him props? This is great news. ****, even if he just fights Pac and Cotto, I'll be happy.

A source with direct knowledge of his deal with Golden Boy Promotions told ESPN.com that Mayweather's deal is for five fights.
Ellerbe made Mayweather's plans after Marquez a bit more clear.
"I can tell you this right now that we're gonna line all these guys up, whoever the so-called best guys are, whoever they say they, and we'll line up," he said. "Obviously, he can't fight them all in one night. But one by one, so whoever it is. He left the best, he's coming back the best. All roads lead to Floyd Mayweather."
Besides Pacquiao and Cotto, difficult bouts to make because of Mayweather's terrible relationship with Top Rank's Bob Arum, his former promoter, there is also Mosley.
"Mosley had a good win with [Antonio] Margarito," Ellerbe said. "We can't fight him right now, but he's one of the top fighters. We recognize he's one of the top fighters. He can get it too."

everyone speculates on what floyd would have done to people but we don't know because he never does it. don't floyd fans get tired of defending his choices? I'm glad I don't have to do that for fighters I like.

but to me, he is the best technical, well rounded boxer in the
sport period. Floyd wasn't talking about fighting any of them
right before he retired and now the word is out so why would
he put himself out there and not back it up? It's not defending
on my part it's just stating facts. Alot of the stuff guys accuse
him of is not totally his fault and really don't want to see the whole
picture on why things happen. I guarantee if/when Floyd goes
on to fight and beat everyone on that list, guaranteed you won't
give him no credit.

Here are the fights I would give him much props for taking: he would gwet props win or lose
at 147:
Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto(provided he beats Clottey), Clottey (provided he beats Cotto), PWill, Collazo, and Berto.
at 140: Bradley, PacMan.
You don't know **** about what I would give credit for. I am on record on here, (in a conversation with you as a matter of fact) as saying that I WOULD LOVE to see him come back and fight the best in his weight class and prove himself to be an ATG. Not because I like him, but because I would respect the hell out of him. Then I wouldn't think he's all talk no walk, cuz I hate people like that.

I give JMM all the credit in the world for stepping up and Floyd gets none until he takes a real fight.

the thing is for me, if floyd doesnt fight certain people, my interest in the sport is still there, life goes on, but for some of you, who claim you dont pay attention to him, you dont watch him, you dont respect him, there is obviously a need to see floyd reach his full potential, because if you didint, i wouldnt see you in damn near every major floyd thread that there is. You do care.Last edited by El Jesus; 05-22-2009, 12:33 PM.

He has always not backed up his talk, and I could run about 25 quotes from him that prove this. He always says one thing and does another, you are becoming a nuthugger. Hilarious how you actually believe him when he never follows through and talk outta his ass for years.

a nut hugger then your a loser and hater because your getting
mad at me because I respect a fighter/Boxer's talent prior to
the smack talk he puts outhere. All your beef is that he calls
himself the best and hasn't fought Mosley/Cotto but it has been
revealed that he has them on his radar and he is back from retirement
so what's the ****ing problem? Cats like you are always quick to label
someone a nuthugger because they like a certain fighter but this is
boxing, you can like and appreciate who you want to. Doesn't have to
agree with you but don't try to bash the qualities I see in Floyd
because you don't see them because to me that's personal and not
about the sport. I have plenty of favorite fighters because I like the
Sport of Boxing and not disliking guys because they don't fight everyone
or condemn them because they call themselves great. Last I checked
a lot of fighters do that. **** is pathetic on here sometimes, I feel like
I'm dealing with a bunch of 8th graders with all the name calling and ****
talking.
