Chad, stop chasing these has beens and clean out the lhw division! by that time there will be new big names at 168 who you could match-up with! neither of these old heads were anything great except hop at 160. give it a rest and clean out 175 plz!

That dawson fight was probably the most boring fight i stayed up for since kiltchko vs Ibragimov........to state that you rather see dawson vs calzaghe is just pure hate on froch....the last 2 froch fight probably more watchable than all of dawson's fights

Let me know the next time Dawson fills a 55,000 seat arena.
A win against Chad Dawson is hardly a "BIG" statement. So far he hasn't impressed me greatly as a fighter.
lol Joe has NEVER impressed me as a "FIGHTER". He did impress me in the Kessler fight. But the question remains? WHO IS KESSLER? WHAT HAS HE DONE? Glen Johnson is a BIGGER name than Kessler. TARVER is a BIGGER name than Kessler...... ****, Adamek is a BIGGER name then Kessler. All the names above are bigger than Lacy, Manfredo, Kessler. Who was Joe before these guys?

Yes, Dawson is a champion - but he isn't a "BIG" fighter. He's a contender
and so was Joe up until 2006-2007. He was a NOBODY for 90% of his career. Dawson as of NOW is a bigger name than Joe Calzaghe was when he first started fighting.

I mean, if we were talking about some kind of suped-up Ray Leonard or even a LH version of Nigel Benn - THAT would be a BIG statement. Right now Chad Dawson is little more than a promising contender.
So what did Peter Manfredo have that Dawson doesn't have? A solid record? undefeated? a belt? ? What/WHO was Lacy besides HYPE? Who was Jones of 2008 that deserved to fight Calzaghe at LHW besides a NAME?

Dawson has a SOLID record. He just needs a BIG fight (as Joe Calzaghe needed with the over hyped "mini mike" Jeff "Left hook" Lacy).

Dawson is as big as it gets a LHW. As MAX KELLERMAN said, He is the man to beat. There is no one left. Dawson at the age of 26 has made a bigger statement than Joe did in his FIRST 10 years as a "fighter".

He has better stamina for one thing. On top of that he probably has a better chin. I know the speed is close. I might catch some flack for this but I even give the edge of power to Zag. Even though I actually view Dawson as a harder puncher than Calzaghe it doesn't matter when your chin is as fragile as Dawson's appears to be. I think Tarver was hurtin him with his sissy shoe shine punches and when he did he didn't follow up. I know Zag was dropped by RJJ and B-Hop but he got right back up and shook it off. It seemed like in the Johnson fight Dawson was hangin on badly and I've never seen Calzaghe do that. Even though RJJ is shot to **** I view Hop and RJJ as harder punchers than Glen. Glen is just a tough grind you down pressure fighter and when you get hurt with one shot by him like Dawson did your chin isn't anything to write home to Ma about. Glen is my boy though and I wish Calzaghe would have given him the shot back in the day. It's part of the reason in a long list why Calzaghe's resume gets ****ted on and rightfully so. Dawson did give Johnson a shot in the first place but after that shady decision he got he doesn't want anything to do with Glen so screw him too.

Dawson will have no choice but to clean out the LHW division. He may never be a big star but if he can dominate the division for an extended period of time, the big fight will come.

They're only bigger names if you genuinely believe the US market holds alll the best fighters in the world. The fact of the matter is SMW (along with a number of other weights) has been dominated by non-US based fighters for years. If you don't choose to pay attention Joe can't be held responsible.

                  See above.

Let's enter the world of realism here. Calzaghe fought Manfredo to open up the US market. He'd reached the end of the road fighting the best fighters in the SMW division and fancied earning a nice pension before he retired.

Dawson is as big as it gets a LHW. As MAX KELLERMAN said, He is the man to beat. There is no one left. Dawson at the age of 26 has made a bigger statement than Joe did in his FIRST 10 years as a "fighter".
Nonsense. Calzaghe beat one of the best fighters in the history of the SMW division - Eubank - in his first ten years. Yes, he was past his prime - but it remains a bigger achievement than anything Dawson's delivered so far. And a prime Reid > shot Tarver/Adamek/Johnson.

Beating Chris Eubank isn't quite the incredible feat you make it out to be, especially in the twilight of his career. Not only is that and your other point debatable, your logic is flawed. Can you compare Calzaghe's body of work at a similar stage to Dawson's currently?

Twilight or not - it was the first and only time Eubank was beaten by a fighter who had no big fight experience. That's a hell of an achievement in my book. And Calzaghe still regards it as his toughest ever fight.

I just have done. IMO, sub-prime Eubank and prime Reid would have posed far more difficulties to Johnson than Tarver (who in his current state shouldn't be granted a licence and Johnson, who remains competent - but his best days are long gone). I calls it as I sees it.
