If Mayweather is so small, why not fight JMM at 135-140?

Why not fight number 1 and 2 pound for pound? Anyone would want that, but not Floyd detractors.

Because Floyd is a LEGIT WW. He weighs in at 149 by fight time which is actually 2 pounds over the WW limit...but I think he could shred two pounds if they made fighters fight at the actual weight come fight-time. It's the others that put on 10+ pounds over that we can argue aren't really WW come fight-time and if we made a cap on the fight for fight-time weight or weighed fighters a few hours before the fight, how many would make weight?

Pac was 147 pounds for his lightweight battle. If JMM fights Pac again, JMM will be fighting a 147+ pound fighter. And since JMM has moved up to JrWW, he will be fighting fighters that are 147+ by fight-time.
The advantage Floyd would have is that there is a smaller chance of him coming in "flat" because he doesn't have to drain a lot of weight and then rehydrate weight for fight-time. He can take a piss, jump on the scales...make weight...and then drink a glass of water and he is set to go.

What Floyd does, which is to barely take off any weight for the scales in order to be healthy, is what all fighters should do and be ruled to do.

of coarse its a tune up

mayweather has not fought in how long and he is not going to jump straight back in with a full fledged top WW when he has not fought for how long?

he will fight an excellent fighter like marquez, but handicap him slightly with the weight to make it more even contest for himself

he has been out for a long time

Im ok with 143-144... but 140 is where it SHOULD be...
But you cant please his detractors, Ricky wasnt seen as too small until Floyd beat him. Oscar wasnt seen as too old until Floyd beat him, whatever Floyd does it will always be something.

But I think Marquez at 145 is just as good a test as collazo, cintron or quintana...

                its a good tune up..

if it was at 140... it would be a p4p matchup
