Ok this thread starts off with Cotto's walk around weight being about 160-165 and now we are talking about him being like 200? I know this was made with poorly hidden intentions of being an "I hate Cotto" thread.....but since I know we are getting to this point, let me say no he should not fight Wlad or any HW.

Cotto rehydrates a healthy amount at Welterweight. Rehydrating 10-12 pounds is fine.

almost every fighter puts on weight after weigh in.

cutting anything around 10% of your weight is fine.

for instance if a guy is fighting at 135. cutting 13 lbs. is okay.

cotto probably comes in at 160 during fight night. that's fine.

Its more than that alot of fights, either way it shows he should be no less than 154.

This thread is ridiculous. Walk-around weight means very little in regard to the fighter's appropriate weight class. A fighter's ability to safely fight at a weight class without compromising their health/ability is the key. Cotto is not a big WW... anyone who claims this needs to place a sock in their mouths until they complete their research. During training he weighs around 152-155 lbs. which shows that WW is the appropriate weight class for him, at this point in his life.

From a physiological perspective, everyone does not maintain weight in the same manner. Some individuals require much less excersize or activity than others in order to maintain a certain weight.

If walk-around weight is a gauge that you want to use, then your theory indicates that Hatton should be fighting at LHW, the dude weighs 190 between fights.

Mayweather was 159 against the big show.

Vargas was 320 before he fought Mosley.

                  Who gives a ****?
