    Miguel Cotto vs. Joshua Clottey

Today I watched Miguel Cotto vs. Gianluca Branco, and noticed this is the opponent that Cotto has faced that has the more similar style to Johua Clottey's defensive style, he had almost the same workrate that Clottey had with more speed, Cotto had a great strategy for this fight, is it possible that Cotto uses a similar strategy for his upcoming style against Joshua Clottey and is it possible for him to finish up the fight the same way he did against Branco? Also on a curious note the Branco fight is the only fight in Cotto's career that he had changed his training camp to Florida, similarly like he is doing know which is training in Florida. Here is a video of the end of the fight that shows how Cotto was trying to break Branco's shell like defense:

his is what me, and other have been saying Clotteys style is not new, to Cotto. But Cotto style is new to CLottey.

This fight vs Branco and teh Abdullaev fights, are good indicators of how Cotto can work against a stronger fighte, who uses the shell defense!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Clottey isn't a fighter that boxes around Cotto he'll stand in front of Cotto with his shell like defense and it's up to Cotto to bust him up. I'm not saying it will be with the same ease but like ChampBox said the Branco fight and other fights are indicators that the style is not new to Cotto but Cotto's style is new to Clottey.

Agreed...On the flip though, this isnt gonna be easy for Clottey either. Not by a longshot.

He didnt really give Branco much respect though. He'll be more careful against Clottey, who is extremely quick inside. Although his KO ratio isnt impressive, Clottey still has decent power too. More than Branco at least.

I think it will be closer to the Abdullaev fight. Because he pressured Cotto with a high guard all night.

That isn't how Clottey fights anyway...but I see your point. Nonetheless, if you think Cotto is going to be able to break Clottey down whereas Margarito who was able to beat on Clottey, when Clottey had completely messed up his hand and couldn't fight back after round four, couldn't even slightly hurt him.....well.....it won't happen.

The tight guard is pretty much the only similarity that Branco and Clottey have, Clottey is much better than Branco, much bigger, better skills, faster etc. This won't be an easy fight for either guy.

Thank you Burner. FFS, no way Clottey stands there and takes a TKO loss based on bein hurt from blockin punches like Branco. Hell, no way Cotto dares to stand inside and slug wit Clottey all nite. Cotto is gonna have to use footwork and quick flurries to win this fight. If he tries to fight in the pocket wit Clottey, he's gettin ****ed up. Clottey is a class above a journeyman like Branco and it's foolish to compare the 2 simply cuz both keep tight defense.
