Tarver is nothing special and Gatti had wars with Ward(thats what made him big). But that isn't saying much, No question Gatti was a warrior and had a lot of heart. But you need more than heart for the HOF. I mean he took a beating very well and kept fighting, that isn't HOF material.
That might be what Arturo is most remembered for but he was already a big name prior to the Ward fights and he was actually, at one point, a very technically gifted fighter. I think his accomplishments combined with his massive impact and notoriety should be enough to get him over the line.

I'd let Gatti go in the Hof. Tarver? Questionable. I would lean more towards no.

I disagree. You have to accomplish something special to be a HOF'er and notoriety is not it.
Especially considering the fact that he was white, it helped him with his notoriety.
(this is coming from someone that liked Gatti) He had to at least beat a HOF caliber fighter and he didn't.
I mean he lost to Ivan Robinson twice and Angel Manfredy, King Solomon?

I say no to both. The hall of fame should be reserved for the best of the best. Niether Gatti nor Tarver fit that description.

There are enough fighters unworthy of the HOF that are already in, and many that have been worthy that keep getting passed over.

Gatti might get my vote by a slight margin, but Tarver would not.

I think the Hall of Fame should be for all-time great boxers, not just good ones.
