Yes if the WBC alone will make decisions like this ruling against unified champions, then this bold move will hopefully backfire.
They've all already been doing this little by little by stripping champs of their belts for fighting each other or for fighting the huge names in the divisions, but now they're going out and threatening their champions for holding 2 belts and straight out saying they're against undisputed champs?
Hopefully, this will backfire so bad that all the future stars trying to unify their divisions like Diaz (again), Valero, Bradley, Williams, Darchinyan, Juanma Lopez, etc, will collect the other 3 straps and kill off the WBC.
Instead of being yet another black eye to the sport maybe it will be a step in the right direction for bringing back the single world title.
If I were Bradley I'd hold onto the WBO just to **** on Suliman.
In Defense of the WBC, Bradley was given special treatment for fighting Holt instead of making his mandatory defense. That was the deal of the fight and the rules of the WBC.
I don't agree that with the mandatory defense rule especially when it is a champion vs champion unification match. Unification matches should be an exception to any mandatory defense rule.
That's not the point. Sulaiman isn't saying he can keep the belt provided he makes a mandatory defence. He's saying he can't keep the belt unless he gives up the WBO belt. Which is pathetic.
Though it's bull**** and the situation sucks on the other hand since Ortiz aint getting title shot anymore let him and another top 140 pounder fight it out for the vacant title
Even Sulaiman should be able to figure out that Bradley, just like every other top fighter, doesn't want to be champion of any 'organization', he wants to be the champion of the world. The Ring title, while still not exactly that, is the only one that means a damn.
To hard core boxing fans, yes, but unfortunately most casual fans and almost all of the mainstream media don't give The Ring belt any credence at all, and have no idea what a lineal title means.
All of the British media is currently claiming that Froch is currently Britain's only world champion, even though Hatton is Britain's only lineal (and Ring) champion, and even though no independent ranking body has Froch in the top 3, and The Ring only rates him #6, Boxrec #4.
And the mainstream media always refers to Hatton as the IBO champion, never as the lineal champion, and never as The Ring champion.
Someone needs to educate all those boxing journalists, but I don't see it happening. It's very sad.
great news for other fighters, i like this news, i anybody other than bradley should have this belt, this belt should be saved for pac, hatton vs marquz winner, that sounds ****ty but it is what it is

no boxing orginization wants someone like bradley as their champ

I also notice that and something really needs to be done to erradicate this kind of thing but boxing is not mainstream over here so its difficult to educate the media when all the care about his football.
I doubt we would ever see a champion with 4 major belts anymore, I remember how both Calzaghe and Naz werent allowed to keep their belts after winning it, They werent even given a chance to make a madatory defense.
