kess is probably the hardest puncher that hopkins would face and imo hopkins would have a hard time taking his jab away from his. alot of people seem to think kess is a bigger version of pavlik but hes got much better fundamentals and has better footwork and handspeed.
Ive seen nothing from Kessler to suggest he could beat bernard hopkins, I think style wise thats bread and butter for hopkins, movers with high punch output beat hopkins, Kessler isnt any of those from what ive seen, he relies on the jab to set up most stuff, I dont think he'd ever land that jab on hopkins, Im sure if hopkins would even let him get set long enough to get anything decent off, I doubt it.

He's not a great mover either, hops would pull the same old trick, parry the jab then counter, move in range, then move out again so the fighter cant get set, then lead, clinch.

So Kessler is open to big fights then and that promoter dispute is done?

So he can fight the winner of taylor and froch?
As far as I know the offer was made before christmas. I doubt Kessler's management is doing anything to get Mikkel a fight in the ring ATM. They seem destined to give Kessler his next big fight in court.....

The Hopkins that beat Pavlik will likely beat Kessler by UD. Kessler might make it a bit closer than Pavlik. The Hopkins that fought Calzaghe would probably be stopped by Kessler. At least that's what my take would be I think.

im sorry mate but i just can't see it, kessler speed is what i think will win him this fight, i agree with you that he fights in straight lines and hasn't had much experience against fighters like b-hop, he does seem like a better versionof pavlik and hopkins schooling of pavlik implies that hopkin could get the W overkess. but i just can't see it, kess is just too quick and thats what made the difference in the pavlik fight, kelly was too heavy and just couldn't get off, with kess it will be a different story.

i think youre alsounder rating his counterpunching skills.

          kess by messy UD.

            Its your opinion,

Calzaghe schooled Kessler towards the end of that fight, prolly won 8 rounds to 4.

Calzaghe is quicker than kessler last time i checked,

Calzaghe could barely land clean on hopkins, went down in round 1, and squeaked out a questionable SD against a jaded hopkins.

            cool though.

Kessler fought Calzaghe with a broken hand and without sparring. He'd likely be better if everything worked out right.

Calzaghe gave his worst performance in years against Hopkins although one could also say that Hopkins makes anyone look bad. Still Hopkins was completely gassed in the championship rounds. Against a hard precisionpuncher like Kessler that is bound to cost.

zaghe gave a bad performance but i see kess fighting in the same way as taylor, taylor though seemed to lose his way sometimes and has a tendency to lose concentration. kess doesn't, calzaghe doesn't have anything on his punches anyway.

kess doesn't, disagree with bat that hopkins gassing against calzaghe is signifcant because calzaghe used smart footwork, feints and worked behind the jab in ways that kessler simply can't.

i guess theres only one way to find out if kess has the beating of hopkins and until then we'll have to agree to disagree.

The offer to Hopkins from the Kessler camp was $4 million...in Denmark, no? No way that would have happened. And no way this fight happens. Like Dawson, Kessler has a different generation to contend with.

I believe it was in Denmark yes. And the offer might have been good money wise but still a reach. Hopkins would only do it if he really needed cash. Other than that he had/has little to gain in fighting Kessler.

On Calzaghe suggesting Hopkins to fight Kessler, Hopkins responded: "If it leads to you." Joe replied: "I don't do rematches."

So Hopkins wanted Joe more than anything and since that won't happen a Hopkins-Kessler scenario is highly unlikely.

Agreed. Kessler will have plenty of opponents to pick from if he ever gets out of jail.
