I think it means he still hoped the plaster on the knuckle pads wouldn't be discovered and that he'd get off scot free. The plaster on the knuckle pads had nothing to do with how he wrapped his hands - the knuckle pads were separate from the main wraps.

And I could also say that, knowing how that fight ended and what we know now, that fight was the biggest fight of Margarito's career. If he was gonna cheat.... Cotto was the one to cheat with, that was the fight that was gonna put him on top of the WW division. Somehow even though it can't be proven, unless capetillo comes clean to not get banned, I could almost understand how it was that I was wrong in picking Cotto. Sounds kinda arrogant, but I freakin KNEW that there was NO WAY IN HELL Cotto could get beat like that by Marg.
Am I the only one that remebers Cotto was LOSING on the scorecards too????

He seems like a top bloke so if he is genuinley innocent and didint know and the trainers to blame then I hope he pulls through this...if he is proven to be guilty through the lie detector then I can see why guys like Cotto are complaining...they have every right.
        Cotto has nevr complain buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was young when he lost like 3 out of his first 5 fights or 2 out of the first 5, whatever. After that though, he goes on this incredible demolition path ko'ng most of the boxers he has fought. This includes Sergio Martinez; let me say that while watching that fight I was amazed at how Martinez was drumming him with crazy amounts of punches the whole time. Margarito only tagged him good in the ko rd- I forget the round number..like 5 I think and Martinez was shook from that. I saw him take several punches from Cintron who is supposed to be a hard puncher and it did not even faze him at all. I would not hesitate to guess that he has been cheating about 95% of his professional career. Look at the one time we know of for certain that he did not cheat..because he was caught before he could cheat and see what happened.

Mosley smacked him silly the entire fight, Margarito looked like a hopeless wreck. He probably had the cheating thing on his mind at that point and was distracted in the ring.

Ban him for life....there are already enough boxers dying from being hurt in legit fights, no need for more due to cheating tactics.
Ok!! The man started professional boxing when he was 15 or 16 of course he was going to lose to grown men!!

no, but you seem to be the only one that thinks that the plaster started to hurt him in the 11th round

this story is about what? margarito's illegal hand wraps right, the knuckle pads and the hand wraps are not bound together but when people say illegal hand wraps they are talkin about anything illegal under or over the wraps and if you wrap someones hands with something illegal no one is gonna say no he didn't illegaly wrap his hand he just had something illegal under his wraps, it is all considered illegal hand wrapping

Whlie I'm not glad to hear that it was plastter and that he was cheating I agree that the Cotto Fight and Golden Johnson and Cintron II should be in question.

I for one believe that if their was a point where they began to cheat it was after the PWill lost.

Yeah and Barrera turned pro when he was 15. Fighting grown men, and winning I might add.

The reasoning being when u throw a punch with normal wrapped hands your hand by force opens up some. With plaster of paris it doesnt give as much.
Resto also had plaster of paris in his wraps. Whether the decreased amount of padding or the plaster had more to with it, it was still lethal and it ended the career of a bright young boxer.
