i don't care about heart that doesn't mean **** to me i'm about the skills and fundamentals but as far as hatton goes i just don't like the way he fights and i don't find his fights to be entertaining

People like the guy and when confronted with facts it's impossible to argue that he's had an above average career. So, you can just chalk up any hate he gets up to some people insisting on being irrational about him for reasons beyond his control.
excessive clinching and make the fight boring is beyond his control?

In my experience, fans of boxing, as opposed to people who tune in only for the big PPV events and think this places them in a position to speak with absolute and unquestionable authority on every fighter of the past one hundred years, do give Ricky respect - even if they don't much care for him.

A lot of ATGs won ugly and with skills - but they get far less criticism for the ugliness than Hatton does.

Hopkins frequently wins ugly, and in many of his fights he not only hit and held, but more illegally, he hit, on the referee's blind side, while holding. And in the Holmes fight, he threw more low blows than I've ever seen in any other single fight. But he gets a lot less criticism for his dirty tactics than Hatton does.

Duran won extremely ugly in many of his fights, especially again Buchanan, but was praised for his "intense ferocity". Duran bored in with his head against Buchanan, wrestled, repeatedly hit on the break, and ended the fight with a low blow in the groin that sent Buchanan to hospital, yet is rarely criticised.

Tszyu throw Sharmba Mitchell around the ring in their first fight and hurt Santos repeatedly with illegal rabbit punches - yet everyone felt sorry for him and criticised the referee when Hatton out-rough-housed the rough-houser.

Marciano used to bore in with his head and head butt his opponents, but is rarely criticised for his rough-house tactics the way Hatton is.

Mosley hit and held a great deal against Margarito, but I didn't see any criticism of him after that fight.

Mayweather used his elbows illegally a great deal against Hatton, but few people criticised him for it.

          Definitely double standards, IMO.

If he beats Pac he gets more respect than any fighter now. If he beats Pac he will be moved up to maybe #2 P4P. If he beats Pac Ricky will be the man that all fighters will call out. If he beats Pac is the theme. Its not happening so the midget doesn't get my Respect. If he wanted respect he should have Fought JUNIOR WITTER.

Anyone who is a boxing fan rather than a hater will gain respect for him as long as he puts up a good, competitive fight - he doesn't need to win.

Marquez gained respect when he lost to Pacquiao; Rafael Marquez gained respect when he lost to Vasquez; Barrera and Morales both gained respect when they lost to each other. The fact that you call him a midget shows you're just a hater.

His only loss came to the pfp king, Hatton has nothing to be ashamed of. His following is crazy I can't wait until someone captures the heart of America like Hatton does our Alantic friends

This will never happen, America is not pathetic enough to base their whole life on a single person.. Smh.

No one bases their life on Hatton, but American fans took 70s version of Ali to their heart at least as much as British fans have taken Hatton to theirs, probably more so.

just watch that one clip of hatton clinching more than 20+ times in a single round.

sometimes he didn't even punch before he came in... he just lunged in and grabbed.

none of those boxers you named do that
