See here's the thing...the Roy that lost to Johnson and Tarver are not the Roy I'm talking about, I'm talking about prime Roy. As I said we'll need to wait 10-20 years before he gets the credit he deserved. Leonard, Hearns, Hagler and Duran all had embarassing losses when they got too old but we don't remember them for their losses we remember them for the moments they showed us how great they truely was. Roys prime is a force to be reckoned with in any era of the sport.

But we are talking losses only one year after arguably his greatest achievement, that isn't being "too old"

Okay if you are going to use that argument, then you can't count his win only win against Tarver. He was in the shape then as the second fight.

I'm not and I never have. Age was a factor btw, Roy was 36-37 the years he got K.Od added to the fact he dropped 50-60 lbs then think about how his whole style was based on super-fast reflexes and power shots then you'll see why him dropping 50-60 lbs and being 36-37 signalled the end of Roy Jones.

Huh? What do you mean you can't count his win against Tarver? He won in spite of it, not because of it.

Fair enough. When he got knocked out by Tarver in 2004 he had turned 35 that January not 36/37 and if he had lost 50-60 pounds he would have been fighting somewhere around welterweight. Roy officialy weighed in at 193 for the Ruiz bout. 193 minus 175 =??

Well it was a matter of month's between the two fights. Being willing to give him credit for beating Tarver first time round and then discounting the loss a few months later just seems a bit genrous to me

He was 193? Oh didn't know that I always thought he weighd around 220 for some reason (His biceps were HUGE in that fight). Yeah correction on the age he was 35 when he got K.Od by Johnson and Tarver. (Hard to remember off the top of your head). Still though, 35 and dropping 18 lbs is hardly any mans prime? 35 factors into Jones downfall more than anyone because of how he fought his whole system of defence was pure speed reflexes and movement speed, combined with his fast power shots aswell at 35 alone he's going to lose vital reflexes that allowed him to get caught against people like Johnson and Tarver.

Anyways, the point I was trying to make is - Roy losing to Johnson and Tarver are not the Roy I was talking about and won't be the Roy people remember in 10-20 years. The fact he had more achievements than nearly anyone in boxing history, his awesome style and his shenanigans in the ring I don't see how you can just say "No he's just not top 10 ATG at all."
