    Fights that could have made Roy Jones a top ten ATG

    Roy fought a few great fighters but, particularly between 1997 and 2003, the opposition was very mediocre. I personally feel that Roy was one of the guys that was so gifted that he could have beaten anyone you put him in the ring with and if he had ownly fought all the great names then we could be looking back on one of the greatest careers of all time bar none. So realistically what really really great legacy builders did Roy miss out on?

    Obviously the lineal champ Dariusz Michalczewski

    Joe Calzaghe but that would have done little for his resume as between 1993 and 2003 Joe Calzaghe's name meant very little compared to what it does now. Calzaghe would have had to have had a great career after he fought Jones.

    Hopkins rematch

    I'm only really trying to include undoubtedly great fighters

    Roy argueably still is a top 10 ATG. The guy was amazing in his prime and I think the more time goes on the more forgiving it'll be on Roys downfall.

          Won world titles from Middleweight all the way to Heavyweight, beat a young Hopkins, beat James Toney, KO'd Virgil Hill, was the only fighter to go a full round without ever being hit and was an olympic silver medalist (should of been gold). Just watch how he fought in his prime the guy was amazing and had a unique style I'd say he's definatly argueably top 10 ATG.

          For the record : He's not in my top 10 but I wouldn't ****talk or disagree with anyone that said he was.

            i rank roy just outside the top 10 ATG - i think over time we will as someone said be more forgiving to roy, i think the cuirrent image of the fighter is what people have in their minds and tbh he does at times get alot of unwarranted hate. i love roy because he pushed himself, because he recognised that he was better than everyone but he wanted to know how much better. he strived for competition and pushed the limits, certain fighters just enjoy winning ala hopkins but others like RJJ look to compete.

            i think RJJ fought just about everyone he should have with the exception of daruiz michalczeski (from now on termed DM). it really annoys me how at the time these same critics were waxing lyrical over RJJ and now a couple of years on they turn around and say he ducked benn, ducked DM, ducked calzaghe.

            RJJ in his prime didn't duck anyone. he best hopkins, toney, nunn and ruiz the guy deserves more respect than hes getting

              Men Im a fan and He is/was as talented as they come. But his resume is not that good, and when your a top 10 ATG you dont lose to tarver, nor johnson.

              Ne should be anthing from 60-70 ATG!!!!!!!!!!!

                Toney, Hopkins : Yes, great achievements

                Virgil Hill : No, Dariusz Michalczewski had just beaten him

                This is what I am saying, what are the other great fighters he should have fought?

                We've got Toney and Hopkins

                Note: I'm not accusing him of ducking anyone

                    Let's not get too silly. Were talking fights where he has a very real chance of winning otherwise the list goes on for ever.

                    I think unifying against Byrd after Ruiz would have got him a lot of credit and it is realistic that he would have won
