He would actually have to step into the ring to prove that theory especially against Cotto and Mosely who are average PPV draws at best.

i think cotto and shane should fight each other, winner fights floyd, and the fight will do close to a million buys......

if pacman beats hatton, pacman-floyd does well over a million buys.

i think 20 million guaranteed is a bit much, but somewhere around 15 million for either fight is right on the money.

Marketable? When the **** did Suger Ray Leonard and Oscar De la Hoya(Two of the most popular fighters of the last 3 decades) have to actually retire from boxing to make themselves more marketable? **** most marginal MMA fans know who SRL and Oscar are but ask them who floyd is and they will say "Oh he wrestled in the WWE".

Even the most casual boxing fans know who Floyd Maywether is. If he stays retired a lot longer his shine will start to fade, but he still have the vast majority of the shine. People tend to remember the last thing you did in the ring, which for Floyd was the highlite reel ending to the Hatton fight.


Sugar Ray Leonard eye thing, you do not remember the retirement thing he did where he called Hagler into the ring and say it would be a great fight but...... it is never going to happean. Then deicded to come back to fight Hagler then fight off and on for a long time after.

Also bringing up Oscar and Sugar Ray only proves my point you have to bring up 2 of the most popular boxers in recent memeory to say they are better.

Knowing him for any reason is a positive, WWE, Dancing with the Stars. Why would you expect MMA fans to give a boxer a ton of respect, asking the wrong people about Floyd, imo.

That ain't true, alot of people know who Mayweather is and I'll admit it is due to him facing DLH/ Hatton. Some just don't care for him because they just don't like his style of fighting

i wouldnt say he was scared, but fact is he did turn him down multiple times, most recently 2 yrs ago. Maybe deep down, he doesn't think he can win

People are delusional about Shane, the old version of shane against floyd is one things (floyd still wins imo) this older version with less reflexes has even less of a chance. He is open for so many shots because he doesnt move his head enough, has his hands low, keeps his head up. Cotto outboxed him, but people wanna believe he can outbox mayweather over 12?

both of them either retired or took long layoffs which helped their prestige and demand to be in a fight. And i don't think he said more marketable, but he is more marketable still compared to others.

I said one of the most marketable. People do not just buy his fights to see him win, you are not taking into account all the people that pay to see him lose.

Whether you are paying to see him win or lose you are still paying to see him fight which is his marketability. No fighter draws a crowd to see them lose like Floyd Mayweather, I stand by that.
