Why all the hate for this ppv?

I've read alot of hate about tonites Cotto and Pavlik fights being on ppv, and I just dont get it. It seems to me that these fights are EXACTLY the kind of fights that should be on these smaller independant ppv's (i.e Chavez Jr.). I mean, let's be real. There's no way to make these fights on an ESPN or VS. budget, so whats the alternative? Take up HBO/Showtime dates and budget money for obvious tune-ups? That's not good for boxing. Those dates/budgets should be preserved for good matchups, NOT tune ups. By sending this to ppv, it doesnt affect the annual HBO/Showtime budgets, and still gives die-hard Cotto and Pavlik fans the CHOICE of watching a fight they otherwise might not be able to see. Now one might take issue with the $44.95 price tag, but the idea that it shouldnt be ppv in the first place I just disagree with. PPV is the best place for fights like these. Let the fans make the choice whether to buy it or not..........

You are 100% right. There are good PPVs that aren't huge fights. Cards like this or overseas cards that Integrated Sports picks up are the best kinds in a lot of ways. They are the only forum in which this kind of card can be brought to the American public.

My only complaint is the price on this one. It should be about $35. If it was, I'd be buying it no hesitation tonight. However, money is tight and that ten dollars is making me waver. You'd think of ten more dollars could break me than I wouldn't even consider it at all though... haha. I'm crazy for this stuff though. The fight game is my first love.

Many fans are under the false impression that the promoters use PPV for cards like this because they are greedy. The truth is that they would much prefer that TV saves them the risk and the trouble. Both Cotto and Pavlik badly need comeback wins, and this was the only way to get it done while still paying the two fighters what they are used to. I have no inclination to buy this, but I don't hold it against the promoters for doing what they need to in order to keep their fighters busy.

myself and my friends are big fans of these two fighters and watching PPV boxing is a cheap Saturday night. Split the costs with beer and thats it. If the promoter can't get a TV date, you can't blame them for putting a PPV show.

I understand why, but this is pretty much a versus card. Versus should be shelling out the money for these type of fights, but the problem is that Pavlik and Cotto get paid too much for these type of easy fights so Versus can't. That's pretty much the issue I have, Cotto and Pavlik don't deserve these type of paydays after badly losing.

i think 29-35 would've been a fairer price but i have no problem with buying this double header ppv. like mike dee said couple friends split the costs and its a cheap nite of what should be good boxing. everyone wants to see what effect if any has the losses caused.

Agreed, but 15.99 is more fair.

Cuz it's overpriced and both fights are likely gonna be walkovers.

This IMO shouldn't be a PPV at all, the card is good enough to be a PPV but it shouldn't be. These are obvious tune-ups but Cotto and Pavlik aren't household names yet, this should be a showcase of there talents to people who have HBO.

Put it on "free" HBO , that way when a huge fight does come along worthy of PPV like Cotto-Mosley II then more people will have seen these two in action and will draw more of the casual fanbase.

Find people who enjoy boxing and then split it with them. Most of the time, when I do buy PPV's (Which I rarely do) I end up paying a good 10-20
