this card is another great candidate for the $20ppv rule...

i was planning on ordering the fight tonight but didnt know it was gonna be $45....that's too much for tuneups....it goes from big screen to stream

Even ten bucks for this ppv is too much. Stream for free online.

JMM AND DIAZ should be a PPV event. That i would Pay to see. Im not at all interested in Pavlik/ Rubio.... and Cotto / Jennings is a rip off. What ever naive people think believing the hype that Cotto Jennings will be close is hilarious. I dont want to see Cotto in a sparring match. Even if he loses to this guy,Is something i dont want to see.If that happes I dont want to watch him again unless its free. So all around its a lose lose..... a win win is Diaz /Marquez or Hatton Pac Man

There's no way to make these fights on an ESPN or VS. budget, so whats the alternative? Take up HBO/Showtime dates and budget money for obvious tune-ups? That's not good for boxing. Those dates/budgets should be preserved for good matchups, NOT tune ups. By sending this to ppv, it doesnt affect the annual HBO/Showtime budgets, and still gives die-hard Cotto and Pavlik fans the CHOICE of watching a fight they otherwise might not be able to see. Now one might take issue with the $44.95 price tag, but the idea that it shouldnt be ppv in the first place I just disagree with. PPV is the best place for fights like these. Let the fans make the choice whether to buy it or not..........
do you serious think cotto v. jennings and pavlik vs. rubio are ppv worthy???

          really?

          these are espn level fights.

I think the problem people have is that some people dont want to spend almost $50 on tune up fights. People are also mad that there fighting these kinds of opponents and not guys like AA and Mosley and dont want to have to pay for matchups that they dont want.

That's pretty much the issue I have, Cotto and Pavlik don't deserve these type of paydays after badly losing.
2 title fights on versus? with the names cotto and pavlik? thats not going to happen any time soon.

The point is that you could not make these fights on an ESPN budget. Do you really think Cotto or Pavlik are going to fight for $20 or $30 grand? That wouldnt even pay half of their training camp expenses. The thing is this. These fights are tune-ups. Why waste HBO/Showtime money that could be allocated to better fights? I'm guessing you would have no problem if this were a dark show with no tv. But instead of doing it dark, they offer it on ppv for those who are truly interested in it. I have no problem with that, and am very glad that not one cent of HBO or Showtime's budget were used up on these fights.

Guess my big gripe is the price. 45 bucks is way too much. 25 or 30 bucks and I probably wouldn't ***** about it. But 45 for a couple of tuneup fights? That's just gouging and it pisses me off.
