Do big fights that become mismatches hurt boxing?

I know some of you hate certin boxers but lets forget who we are cheering for and look at this on a casual boxing fan's prespective. When we get these dream matches where we actually have two A+ boxers fighting each other and then the fight itself turns into a onesided ass whooping do you think it keeps casual boxing fans from actually becoming full fledged fans?

All the best fights in 2008 seemed to come from smaller non PPV fights and all the larger events this year fizzeled into one sided affairs that even had me questioning why I spent 50$ on this ****.

I guess my question is what can we do to change this and make these dream matches live up to the hype??

Not as long as there is Golden Boy. Look back at some few Golden Boy fights that were "mega fights". Hokins "destroyed" Pavlik, DLH got destroyed by Pac, and Mosley destroyes Marg.

The sad thing is Golden boy seems to be the only Promotion company putting on these fights but thats besideds the point. These big fights just haven't been living up to the hype.

        Only when they are PPV.

Its anti climatic/boring PPV's that hurt the sport because it is the casual fan who PPV's are produced for.

If a fight is hyped as hell and produced PPV, and it turns out to be an exhibition for one fighter, people are going to feel that they didn't get their money's worth. Its as simple as that.

Absolutely. And not only that, they're going to be hesitant to order other fights which we as hardcore fans know will be tens times better. Fights such as Barrera/Morales, and Marquez/Pac. Its fights like Calzaghe/Jones, DLH/Mayweather, and Pavlik/Hopkins that make me sick to my mutha****ing stomach.

Me too but I'm a diehard fan and so are you. My question is from the casual fans prespective? You think they got their moneys worth on these fights? Especially older fight fans that saw legendary fights like Ali vs Frasier live on Primetime TV for free.

Happends in all sports. How many SuperBowls or NCAA championship games were blow outs.

How many World Series were 4-0 or 4-1. I mean its best when they live up to the hype but very few Marquee games and fights do. Thats why when they do live up to the hype they are treasured that much more i.e. Giants vs Patriots

I thought that DLH vs Floyd had enough dramatic shifts in the fight to be considered a solid match up. Maybe it wasn't a blood bath but the drama in the actual fight made it enjoyable.
