There have been a lot of headlines about the partnership between Golden Boy Promotions and Affliction, a mixed martial arts promotion. The headlines heated up when HBO analyst Larry Merchant reported misinformation to a live viewing audience, that De La Hoya was paid $5 million dollars to attend the Affliction pay-per-view, instead of the Golden Boy promoted card that featured Shane Mosley knocking out Antonio Margarito. On a personal level, I agree that it was kind of messed up for Oscar to miss the fight. Shane is supposedly his friend, and is his partner. It was a big promotion for his company. As far as him getting into different business ventures, that's his decision. You cant knock the hustle.

The only thing I can say is MMA and boxing do NOT appeal to the same crowd. If Oscar or any other promoter wants to try and mix the two together it just wont work. I know a lot of MMA fans and they dont like boxing at all.

This pisses me off I was able to booooooo Oscar at the Staples Center, then I find out he wasn't even there. Merchants comment on the Mosley Margo fight was hilarious when they said Oscar was getting 5 million to be at the MMA event. He said they would have to pay him that much to go to one of those events LOL!!!

The Mosley fight was all about Suga Shane. De La Hoya being there wouldn't have made much of a difference. And if they are that good of friends I'm sure Shane would have known in advance that Oscar would not be there.
