Margarito-Cotto Winner, Could Get Manny Pacquiao

At the recent fight week press conference for Antonio Margarito vs. Shane Mosley, Top Rank's Bob Arum touched on a possible future clash at the end of the year. Ever since trainer Freddie Roach announced that Manny Pacquiao was requesting a fight with Margarito, the possibility of such a fight has been the chatter of the boxing world. Roach told veteran scribe Ron Borges that Pacquiao was very confident of being able to outbox Margarito, who is much bigger and much stronger. [details]

I don't know about Manny. I think Margarito/Cotto might be too much for him. Sure Manny can box but he has no defensive strategy & Cotto/Margarito ain't Oscar & I'm sure they will be able to catch up to Manny & land on him & knock his head off. Manny has great offensive skill but against guys that are more offensive power wise than he is I'm sure he will not be able to answer the pressure for 12 rounds. Manny is not big enough to impose himself on either of them & his power is not much compared to them two. I'm sure Margarito/Cotto can take Pacquiao's power but I'm sure he can't take there's. And again, Pac's Defensive game is suspect, all he can do is move & evade. He would be smart to clear out 135 & 140 & call it a day.

According to krikya360.com, it was Roach who went public about it, not Pac:

I agree Roach said that Manny said he can beat Marg but that doesn't mean Roach agrees with it. I think the article messed up a bit on the word "he" but I think it refers to Pacquiao.

I agree Roach said that Manny said he can beat Marg but that doesn't mean Roach agrees with it.

No Roach had said previously that he doesn't think Pac could beat either Cotto or Margarito.

I don't see it happening. I'd ask why Arum would want to sacrifice Pacquiao like that, but the answer is money. But I don't think Freddie would allow it to happen, at the very least he'd take no part. Antonio Margarito would slaughter Manny Pacquiao.

right i agree.. but i think he could beat berto for the wbc belt.. the wbc belt is all that matters anyway lol
