Because Taylor turned down a title fight with Froch last year, and now he's refusing again despite being the mandatory - it's very clear Taylor is ducking Froch.
And before he fought Lacy, Taylor had just lost two tough back to back fights against Pavlik. It's understandable that he'd want to feel his way into a new division with a tune-up against Lacy, before fighting for a title. That's not ducking.

Source?
From what Im told Showtime would like to stage some sort of round-robin at 168 involving the likes of Bute, Kessler, Abraham and the like
I should have more complete details later"

Taylor has made it clear he wants to fight Froch.
