Mr.Irresponsible
This is the same story that we have heard over and over with athletes. The ******ity of Mayweather, is when you hang up the gloves, the paychecks stop, but taxes and bills will continue on forever! 6.1 million to the IRS is no small change. Also remember this is for 07, 08 taxes have not been filed yet. Floyd Sr. speaks, truth when he says he will be broke running through the streets of Grand Rapids! Also, remember when a fighter makes 20 million for a fight, it's not as if that 20 million goes into his pocket. 39.6% is taxes, trianers, sparring partners, conditioning coach, it goes on and on. He's probably close to being very cash poor, but rich in worthless assets!

He would be hungry too as opposed being a multi-millionaire and fighting on part-time like Delahoya does.

I actually doubt that floyd is anywhere near bankrupt. sure, he's lost money in real estate but everyone has. this isn't the same story as tyson. floyd isn't keeping exotic animals and raping beauty contestants. and he's not ****** enough to go through multiple divorces.

What do you expect? Sure PBF's loosing money... bad investments, ********, spending spree, etc... he's dumb and just a loud mouth...
Sr. hit it right on the head...
He'll come out of retirement, after all the marquee fighters are all retired.... lol....

Always bad to hear something like that if a boxer who fought hard for his money has problems keeping it.
I believe he really wanted to leave the sport alone. Now he probably have to come back really only for the money and that's never good. He is physical simply not in his prime anymore. He's body breaks down on him and his hands... we don't even have to talk about that. He's a sharp fighter and inactivity always hurts... so it's really an unhealthy combination for him. I hope he not becomes a tragic figure like a Tyson. In my heart I believe that he has too much skill but if he really only comes back for money and isn't into his training regime anymore it can have a bad ending.
So many guys: Castillo, Tyson and and and it almost never end good. There are exceptions to the rule but the guys who are the exception usually don't come back for money but for a reason... because they feel they still have something to prove or archieve

He probably is in a bit of financial trouble because of his crazy lifestyle, some bad investments, and the current financial climate. But the is not at the point where he can not fix it, he made enough money to where if he became more conservative with his money and began investing in wiser things he could still be fine. But people get used to their lifestyles and it will be difficult for him, he might need to fight again to maintain his current lifestyle, and i wouldn't mind that.
The good thing is that humans are very very good at adapting and can get used to pretty much any lifestyle, so if he does go broke in won't be long before he is in the streets like Floyd sr said, but he'll get used to it.
