The only point of going to HW would be to win some belts and Holy dont have any...
Interesting, because i would favor most fighters in the top 10 to beat Jones. People don't realize how shot Jones is, and putting him against anyone in the top 10 like say Johnson, Henry, Diaconu, Dawson( especially) or even Tarver again would not be good, these are all hard punchers and they would bring the fight to Jones. At this point in his career, he should just go out with a good beatable name like Lacy( if he won some decent fights first) Oscar or Winkyfor example.

He would go out worse in this fight, because Evander would blow him straight out.

This is really all that needs to be said about this topic.

Being a huge Roy fan too, I'm of the same opinion. I know he doesn't want to go out with the spanking he took from Calzaghe. It was hard to see him KOed in Tarver 2 and against Johnson, then having Calzaghe make a fool out of him but he could get seriously hurt against Holyfield. Holyfield isn't what he used to be but he's got enough punch left to knock Roy out from the opening bell.

I understand Roy not wanting to go out on an almost shutout loss (and bleeding for the first time in his career) but he's putting his health and legacy in jeopardy by continuing to fight. If you want to go out on a W, fight a bum in Pensacola and call it a career. It's been a pleasure watching you fight but enough is enough and your true fans don't want to see you get seriously hurt.

I think Roy was doing ok against JC until his eye got cut, I'm not saying he would have won, JC has been far to active and still appears to be at his best but even then Jones lasted the 12 rounds, the HBO scoring was BS, the UK scoring was much closer, Jones landed harder, cleaner punches, just not enough of them. JC won clearly but he couldn't finish Roy and never really hurt him like he got hurt in the 1st. Plus Roy was fighting till the end, he never gave up and showed heart even with a real bad cut.

All that said I'd like to see Roy hang them up, he's passed his best, he don't need the money and he'll be in the HOF for sure but like most great fighters I'm sure he'll going until he has to stop.

If by ok you mean taking shots to his face the whole fight then yeah, Roy did okay and I'm saying that as a longtime Roy fan. I do agree that he lasted all 12 but saying Joe couldn't finish him, well, I don't think he really tried to finish Roy. After the cut in the 7th, Joe just toyed and showboated (he Roy Jonesed Roy Jones). Roy did hang in there and atleast he didn't go out like DLH against Pacman. I agree that Roy should hang them up but I think it's going to take something like what happened to DLH for him to finally retire.

While I agree that I would watch this fight if it happens(not on PPV), I really don't think it should happen. I think Jones will still beat Evander but who wants to see him get his clock cleaned by a left hook if Evander focus' long enough to throw a good one and land? Roy needs a home town cream puff to whip up on and go out in style and Evander just needs to go out. The loss to Valuev shows that boxing no longer wants him and he should take that as a sign. Jones should let the Glenn Johnson, Tarver and Calzaghe losses convince him that his best days are long behind him. Like somebody else said, he is actually hurting his legacy by staying around, even though I don't think it should.

Anybody with any boxing sense knows that Tarver, Johnson and Calzaghe could not win more than a few rounds combined against a prime Jones.

Roy Should just Fight Clinton Woods, get an easy W, and then Retire.
About Holyfeild, i Think he would win the fight if he came in shape, but im not sure what a HW version of Roy would look like now...
