I never say I am completely sure, but yeah. Cotto can outbox Chavez, maybe stop him in return. Whenever Chavez stepped up to a man who could really box, he was schooled for the most part. He has a lot of power, but he didn't have the size advantage or strength advantage Margarito has.

All this refers to a fight at 147.

Same goes for what I said. It's hard to talk about Cotto that convincingly at 140 but at 147 I honestly think he gives a prime Chavez a beating. I think he'd take a bit of a beating as well, but he would be too strong in the end.

Yes, at 140 he didn't have the experience and he was weight draining himself pretty badly. But at 147 he said he was more comfortable.

Chavez TKO. Cotto just don't take the same punch he gives. And Chavez has a body attack to match him. He'd get stopped via accumulation.

Is Cotto really that good of a boxer? I honestly have only seen his fights against Judah onwards.

When Chavez fought Whitaker, Taylor and Randal he wasnt as quick and sharp as he used to be. Did Cotto box like thses fighters? I thought he was more of a skillful big puncher.

Maybe i need to watch more of Cotto when he boxed.

I personally think Chavez outworks him. I think Chavez is better overall to Cotto.

Edwin Rosario was a beast at 135 when he fought Chavez. He surely hit harder than Cotto hits today, I mean the man had one punch concussive punching power, something I've never seen in Cotto. Cotto's more of a thudding heavy puncher, kinda like Fernando Vargas. They don't got that Julian Jackson type power; Rosario did. Anyway, Chavez made Edwin look like he had Paulie Malignaggi power the night they fought. None of the punches phased Julio. At the end of the day, Edwin had nothing left and Chavez busted him into submission. And Chavez had not yet peaked. He was arguably one of the best 140 pounders of any era. Even though Cotto is probably the bigger framed between the two, I think Chavez would put Cotto through the meat grinder at 140.

throughout Cotto's career, you can see that hes most open to uppercuts...particularly left uppercuts. he showed this against Judah, Mosley, and most of all Margarito.

anyone who has seen Chavez fight knows he had at least as good a left uppercut as Margarito, and his chin is probebly just as good or better. Im not sure about the jaw part, but Chavez could take shots to the top of the head better than Margarito.

I love Cotto and respect the hell out of him, but Chavez is simply all wrong for the guy. Cotto would be eating uppercut-right hand combinations and body shots constantly, and Cotto really cant take that kind of punishment. so late round stoppage.

My vote goes for Chavez via late round stoppage or ko.

Simply put, Cotto is not prepared to take on someone of this caliber at this specific weight.
