Was Marquez vs Vasquez III better than Cotto vs Margarito?

HBO will replay their best fights of 2008. According to BS posters, Margarito vs Cotto is the best of those fights. Now I ask you this. Did Showtime's top fight, Marquez vs Vasquez III, outdo HBO's best fight?

    Which was better?

I think it was better simply because it went the distance, with both men having great highs and lows in the fight. It was epic. Definitely one of the best I've ever seen.

Tough one they both were for ligitamate titles!!But Margarito-Cotto was at the higher weight,so that might give it an edge!!Showtime for a few years has had fight of the year awards,I always thought their cards on regular tv compared to HBO and ppv, were better quality, plus they had the fight of the century,"Corrales-Castillo"!!

You know, I probably would have picked that fight now that I'm thinking about how it ended. But I was at the Home Depot for Marquez vs Vasquez III and perhaps I let that pull me towards picking that fight. The atmosphere was crazy, which I'm sure was the case at the MGM for Tony vs Miguel.

I was at the Cotto fight and I have to say that the Marquez fight was better. Both fights were great but the Marquez fight was better because at no point did you really sense Margarito could get KO'd. I love Cotto but that night for sure it wasn't in the cards. Cotto/Marg was great because there was so much power at such a higher weight it is crazy to see that kind of action but the other fight you had no idea what was going to happen because both men were landing ko power. Cotto/Marg lacked the same drama IMO but it was a great fight to be at and the second fight will be great also.

Watched both fights at home. And after seen the first 2 Vazquez vs Marquez, you could probably know what was going to happend. I think the element of surprise that the Margarito-Cotto fight brought is what makes it for me a better ,more exciting fight

I've been to a lot of big fights. Cotto V Margarito's atmosphere was the best ive ever seen in boxing or any sport ive ever been to.

Subtract one vote for "I can't decide", it was an error.

Marquez-Vazquez was a more entertaining fight and the one that I would most likely watch again. I have watched it a number of times and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Marg-Cotto was a good fight, but the long-term replay value isn't as high.

So apart from my voting error, it's Marquez-Vazquez that I would pick. I tend to like fights with ebb and flow, peaks and valleys.

Marg-Cotto was just like watching a guy gradually get crushed by a steamroller, or wrestling with an epileptic lawnmower while drunk. Fun for a while but there's not that much to watch, it's more of a monotonous beating. I also expected Marg to win anyway, so no real surprises there for me.

Vazquez/Marquez was a sea saw battle. Competitive from both sides with an edge of your seat ending.

The difference between Vazquez/Marquez and Cotto/Margarito is that V/M was a classic FIGHT while C/M was a classic PREFORMANCE by Margarito.

Weight classes shouldn't matter. In fact, its insulting to go with one fight just because of the size involved.
