Why People give more credit to the ring belt?

Why most people in boxing gives more credit to the ring belts than the other belts?
I mean the ring is owned by Golden Boy Promotions, and most of their titles are vacated and the ones they put in fights for, either are golden boy fighters or the guy who draws more in the division and not the actual deserving fighter!!!!!!

    What do you guys think?

Nothing involving the Ring ****zine has happened for anyone to start thinking they are in cahoots with GBP. The only thing I can think of is Mosley being ranked #3 in the WW rankings, but even that, there are many other boxing writers that did the same thing.

It is the most prestigious because it is awarded like any belt should be awarded. The top 2 fighters in a division fight for one championship and than that one guy defends it until he loses. It is rightfully held in the highest regard.

Ring belts did mean more in the past. They still mean more then other belts but there's a problem with them. For instance, Calzaghe is the Ring ****zine LHW champ for beating one guy at LHW, Hopkins. Meanwhile Chad Dawson has been fighting at LHW, taking on mandatories, and cleaning up the division. Same thing goes for JM Marquez, he's had one fight at lightweight and all the sudden he's the lightweight king??

You beat the man that beat the man. Thats how fighting goes. The Ring doesn't make the matchups. But if one person is rightfully crowned champ and gets beat, the guy that beat him must be champ. If it was up to the Ring the champ would fight the highest ranked contenders, but it can't control that.

I don't see how Joe or JMM shouldn't be the Ring champs...they beat them, it's not their fault they got a title shot they may have not deserved.

I'll tell you why I do...

Go look at Barrera's opposition at 126:

Naseem Hamed - No ABC belt, had never lost and previously held the IBF, WBC and WBO belts.
Erik Morales - WBC champion, Barrera refuses the belt.
Johnny Tapia - No ABC belt, but Tapia was stripped for fighting Barrera, when in his previous fight he had won the IBF belt from Manuel Medina.
Then he lost to Manny Pacquaio.

So Manny Pacquaio had beaten the fighters who had the IBF (X2), WBC and WBO running through them without a loss... Yet he didn't have an ABC belt.

Who was the champion in that division? The guy who beat Barrera after Barrera had been mowing down every good fighter in the division? Or some lame ass who had an ABC title belt.

Except that it is owned by the owner of Golden Boy Promotions.

If Don King bought the ****zine, would you still feel the same way?

How come the Ring Belt at lightweight is only contested for between Golden Boy fighters?

It has become a marketing tool, a way to circumvent the sanctioning bodies to make new champions and declare them the "real belts."

If Don King owned The Ring, we'd be seeing more Don King ring titlists.

GBP will not influence the Ring ratings, because of the one-title-per-weightclass-ideal.

Here is my argument in a nutshell:

                  //krikya360.com/?m=show&o...table&id=13137

"Ring Awards Pacquiao, But Says Marquez Won"

Begrudgingly, Ring ****zine gives the belt to Pacquiao, but they added that they felt the Golden Boy fighter won.

Where was this comment on Casamayor when he was handed a birthday present decision over Jose Santa Cruz?

Well, I think comparing GBP and Don King is a little out there.

The Ring Title at LW being fought for between GBP fighters? That's because two of the top 4 LW are GBP fighters. One of the top 4 being Pac and only fighting super fights. I have no doubt that the winner of Marquez/Diaz fights Campbell should he get past Funeka.
