He beat an old man, and maybe he will call out JC Chavez next! It was still a good win but why on earth is he afraid of JMM3? Lol. Is he waiting for another 4 year gap between JMM fights

Plus, Freddie said he told Manny he didn't have to pay him if he {Manny} lost to Oscar.
Freddie was making sure everything was in his advantages and a big part of it was having Oscar make 147 after 6 or 7 years away from his last fight at that weight. Age, inactivity, worn torn shoulder; trying to make weight…against a young, hungry, active, healthy fighter was what Freddie saw. I thought it was starting to look like Hatton vs. Tszyu but I wasn’t positive this would be it. I said don’t be surprised if Oscar shows up flat…but that was me saying it’s happened before and I didn’t understand why more people weren’t talking about it like Freddie was talking about it.
I hope Freddie stays on this mind-level and never lets his ego get to big...I want him to know that once he sees Manny slip, to tell Manny to hang them up.
I also like that Freddie worries about Manny being "to nice" with his money and I hope Manny is taking that advice.
Freddie was able to commit to his instincts because he mapped out all the circumstances and possibilities...playing them out in his mind over and over and each time; Manny won the fight.
Freddie took a calculated risk. Life’s about risks.
I really want to hear what he says about a possible fight with Floyd.
Personally, I think Pac has a chance; at least a better chance now than ever before. If this was Pac vs. Floyd at lightweight, prime vs. prime....it's all Floyd (as long as he isn't injured...Castillo 1). Or the Floyd that had a short stay at 140; all Floyd.
But the way Floyd has been fighting when he moved up to 147, and his changed Mentality, unless he can get it back to what he was below that weight class...with the year+ layoff and being over 30; Pac has greater odds than ever before.
If I were Freddie I would try to make the fight but make it at 140. Make Floyd drain himself to make weight at 140.
If I were Floyd, I wouldn't fight at 140 but at 147. Also hiring top pro boxers to test you to see where everything is at; and act like it's a fight and not just sparring. Train for a couple months prior to this of course.
I'm not sold on Floyd right now.

but prime for prime you suck balls and will get knocked out pacquiao.. the end
Your a hater he beat Barrera in the first fight in his prime. He beat Marquez, an older Morales but still good wins. He also beat other good fighters at lighter weights. give him some credit. Peace

And as crazy as it sounds to me, i know floyd has become a one punch counterpuncher at higher weights, but hes also shown he will throw combinations if they are open but ONLY when they are open. I think floyd would make manny yeild to him, at take the fight at 47, just because of the sheer fact that mayweather had to yield to DLH like he did, i dont think hell ever conceed like that ever again. but i do notice that roach doesnt say anything about mayweather and manny.
Where is that Floyd now?
When Floyd opened up against both Hatton and Oscar, how did he do?
He did very well...but he kept being too damn cautious and I wonder if it is about his kids like he says, or is it about a fear of losing that "O" and that rep he has build up.
Back in the day he had to prove himself so he took the risks and fought to win.
He can't take off rounds and fight slow against Manny. What if he starts to late...like Hopkins did against Taylor?
To me, as long as Floyd fights like this, he is a declined fighter. Not a Past Prime fighter physically, but past it mentally since it is a mental issue more than a physical. He is choosing not to fight.
I won't totally count out physically because he does seem a tad bit slower...maybe because of the weight-lifting/muscle increase...which could also take a toll on his stamina.
Fighting slower and being a Pot-shot artist doesn't bode well in the long run.
Stop being like Hopkins at 36+ and stop being like Roy became at 30 something+
Go back to young Floyd and open up and be a boxer/fighter; win from the start.
But, I'm not Floyd so I don't know what is going on inside his head nor do I know what he has to deal with physically since it has been said his hands and other parts of his body are breaking down.
As long as Floyd is 100% and he opens up from the start; he is favored and wins the fight.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 12-07-2008, 03:46 AM.

That was the most feeble that I have ever seen Oscar De la hoya appear in a boxing ring. I thought he'd looked very old and weak in there against Manny Pacquiao. He lacked speed, legs, stamina and reflexes; With no pop on his punches.

I don't care how "shot" DLH supposdley is, there is nothing you can take away from Pacquaio jumping weight classes and strafing the hell out of a bigger man with a proven jab.
In my eyes Pacquaio just went from Current Great to Living Legend. If Oscar is shot (which you could make a case for) then Manny did what he was supposed to do and take his ass out. No playing games.
I don't think Mayweather would have stopped him because he wouldn't have opened up enough. Pacquaio had the can of whoop ass open from round 1. BUT, if Money May fights Pacquaio I can't bet against Money May. I think it's his fight.
And finally, I know I should be sympathetic but I can't find any sympathy. De La Hoya you've let myself and other fans down for the last time all the while saying your normal quotes, "I'm in the best shape of my life blah blah". I'm done with you and your legacy has went to ****. And at the end of the day your the only one to blame.
