I thought Erik won each of the first two fights with Barrera (114-113/115-113) and lost the third by a 115-113 tally.

the first fight was a clear win for Barrera IMO
also did'nt Barrera knock him down aswell in the 11,12 the round i dont know what fight you were watching but you must have had Barrera well behind before that knockdown for you to still of thought that he lost that fight

Morales landed more consistently throughout the fight and I preferred his work to Marco's outbursts. the 5th round of the fight completely sums up how I saw it overall. Erik hammered Marco for 2:00 of the round and had him hurt and then Marco would come back with short, effective bursts of action, hurting or tagging Erik. His best work was done when he got Morales backed in a corner or on the ropes...almost the opposite of the third fight.

thats fair enough
Barrera beat Kelly just as convincingly as Morales did
Barrera would not have had the trouble Morales had with McCullough,In-Jin Chi

Barrera was an 11 year pro by the time he fought Hamed if i remember correctly something like that anyway and had been in plenty of wars himself
he beat Morales ass down twice,Morales only claim to fame is a win over Pac and beating Junior Jones who was shot
i think morales turned pro when he was 16

i agree with a lot of that except i thought Marco won clearly and so did HBO and Skysports commentators
i agree though Barrera had major success when he backed Morales into the ropes and hammered his rib cage but in the second fight Morales stayed in the centre of the ring and did not allow Marco to back him up allthough you could also say Barrera tried to box more aswell
Morales could of won the fights if he had not let Barrera back him up

In-Jin Chi would have been a difficult opponent for anyone. Barrera included. He had a ridiculous chin and never stopped pressuring. High energy, in your face opponents were always difficult matchups for Barrera. I would have liked to see how Barrera would fare against a guy like Jesus Chavez too. Same type of deal.
Morales' claim to fame is being the second greatest Super Bantamweight champion of all-time behind the great Bazooka Gomez. He also defeated every single one of his high profile contemporaries...something Barrera cannot say. Unified at 122, unified at 130, defeated 1 hall of fame fighter and two other locks, 3 division world champ, defeated 10+ former/current world champions, etc etc.
He was the ultimate warrior, easily one of Mexico's most beloved prize fighters. He always fought for his fans, fought to put on a show. He never tucked and simply tried to survive a fight. I think the way Erik fought Manny Pacquiao in 3 fights and the way Barrera fought Pacquiao in two fights tells the whole story. Erik went to war with Pacquiao and didn't just try to see the full 12 round distance as Barrera did in the second bout.
