Dave..... whatever you smoking on........ pass that ****!
i know it seems far fetched now, but dont be suprised if p will goes up in weight and becomes a 2 or 3 weight champ and a p4p fighter

he has a great chin, good workrate and even though it was against an average opponent he appears to carry his power reasonably well when moving up in weight

and he has a lanky build that would fill out well when moving up, kind of like tommy hearns' build... (dont worry im not comparing paul williams to hearns ability wise, just in build)

Benny, I've been saying the same thing in another thread. If Joe beat Chad it'd be "ah well, Dawson was always over-rated anyway". Someone else suggested Calzaghe needs to stop fighting old men and face a live body. My answer is WTF -- did Chad not just beat a 40 year-old Tarver and arguably lost to a 39 year-old Johnson? I don't appreciate when people hype up a fighter, just like they did with Pavlik, Lacy, even Cotto, then dump all over him as soon as he gets beaten, usually by elite competition. Is that fair to the fighter?

Dawson isn't a big enough name for Calzaghe at the end of his career. He wants the superstars, tough **** if they are over the hill. Jones is 39. Calzaghe is not exactly near his prime either at almost 37. I don't even need to mention the fact that Hopkins walked out on the 2002 fight deal with Calzaghe, a fight he's been screaming for since at least 6 years ago.

Anyway, back to the point. Dawson has things left to prove. I can see it though, as soon as he loses the "fans" will suddenly terminate their support. I hope Chad proves us wrong, but I see him getting beaten by several possible opponents. I wouldn't put it past someone like Kessler to spark him out. If that happened, people will wish they hadn't insisted on Calzaghe-Dawson, they'd probably end up looking silly.
Its just unbelievable how you talk down Dawson's resume, when Calzaghe has not fought a proven super star that's in his prime( unless you want to consider Kessler that) and among the best pound for pound. I mean no offense at all, but skill wise and threat alone, Chad is better is better than anyone Joe has fought, with the exception of Hopkins of course, a fight in which many people believe that he lost. Kessler was a great win, but he lacked the opposition that Chad has fought and he is not a paper champion either. If Joe was to beat Dawson, then i would rank him as close to the greatest of this era. It would be a huge win over an unbeaten, proven champion that is not only bigger but a legitimate champion with two titles and wins over 2 champions and 4 top 10s.

I think that few people would turn down that win. Dawson would be his biggest threat IMO. Just think about it. 6'3, a fast slick south, natural light heavyweight with good power, straight puncher, good stamina and knows how to control distance. I also find it funny how a fighter looks bad in one close fight(Glen Johnson) and all of a sudden he lost to him and the other person was robbed. Its getting irritating now. You could say the same thing for Joe against Hopkins. I mean he won a split decision, was down in the first round and was rocked on other occasions as well.

joe is so full of crap, he was protected for years and never fought the best, if wanted to fight the best, he would have gone to the U.S when he was a lot younger
Calzaghe stated very clearly a long time ago he would go to the USA to fight Hopkins. Hopkins wanted nothing to do with him in 2002, that's why he walked out on a fight, only to tackle Morade Hakkar instead. Hopkins also took less money instead for the Hakkar fight when he could have had 3 million from fighting Joe.

I get sick of repeating the same old stuff, but people never learn on these forums. Joe tried to fight the big names and the big names backed off. It's as simple as that. Those who didn't back off got schooled.

Displayed great defense and ring generalship. All Joe did was slap puch like some angry broad. he never landed flush on Hopkins. I mean who has? He has been a protected fighter most of his career. To give him more credit after Hopkins destroyed Pavlik is criminal! He ducked Pavlik for years and even recently took the fight with a washed up Roy over Pavlik in his prime. Look he wants the money that roy brings to the table but money doesn't buy credibility. Just a few months ago he was trashing Roy saying he was washed up and only a shadow of the boxer he use to be. Now Joe is holding Roy's nuts like he is still one of the greatest. Let's be real man and stop hyping this good boxer into one of the all time greats.
            Post of the year...

BTW, I stopped reading the article after is said, Joe is one of the best fighters in this decade..

              Fool

[QUOTE=Brassangel;4261483]Okay, so you said 0 things that were accurate, other than their names.

This is for ASSANGEL. Your right about one thing I am a thug but you automatically assume I am not educated. Yes I'm from the hood and proud of it but I dont appreciate you patronizing me. Let's get with the facts that dont sink in your thick head. When I say he got knocked out you know what the **** I mean. Wach the first round joe was on his ass, and were I come from when you get knocked down in a fight even if you get up YOU GOT KNOCKED THE **** OUT! So let me put it in terms you can understand HE GOT KNOCKED DOWN, or do you prefer HE GOT DROPPED you get the point fool. Do yourself a favor and stop holding joes nuts. I respect Joe as a good fighter but to call him one of the all time greats is an insult to the all time greats. His level of opposition does not even come close to that of Bernard's. Believe it or not Joe said in interviews in the UK a few months ago that he had little interest in fighting Roy jones because he felt Roy was washed up. Look it up fool before you start talking or shall I say writing out of your ass. ALL CHAMPS ARE PROTECTED FIGHTERS AT ONE POINT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Joe is close to the end of his career and has only fought two American fighters that I know off. MORE LIKE PROTECTED MOST OF HIS CAREER. Tell me this who hasn't Hopkins fought. He faced everybody and eliminated most off his opponents. The fight between Joe and Bernard was a close fight but I still had Hopkins winning and I am not the only one that feels that way. Many boxing journalist even in the UK felt that Joe lost that fight and looked terrible. Finally YES HE HAS BEEN DUCKING PAVLIK FOR A WHILE, again do your homework. Pavlik has repeatedly stated he has been trying to fight Joe for A while. In fact just recently Joe stayed away from pavlik to fight IN HIS OWN WORDS A WASHED UP ROY. Do yourself a favor and think before you write perhaps one day you can begin to start taking your head out of your ass. It is a process and it takes time but I believe in you.
