The closer we are to the fight, for some reason I'm starting to favour Hopkins. The fact he was so close to a Win against Calzaghe was something in itself and, with all due respect to Pavlik, he ain't nearly as good as Joe. I know triangular theory is often nonsense but it's something that can't be overlooked.

I'm actually looking forward to this one and that's not something I often say about a BHop fight.

Hopkins may lose the decision, but I think he'll knock down Pavlik once, just like he did Calzaghe.

Pavlik's power one advantage but Hopkins has many more advantages

Everybody keeps talking about Pavliks power. Pavlik's power is one advantage but Hopkins has many more advantages. I have never seen Hopkins lose to someone because they had power. I think Hopkins diminished work rate is a bigger disadvantage than Pavliks power. But what about Hopkins advantages? No one can deny his defense is superior-- in all fights against Taylor,Wright,Tarver and Calzaghe he left without any visible damage to his face or body. Credit Hopkins defense its legendary. Of all those fighters Pavlik's boxing is the least skilled with the exception of Taylor who floored Pavlik with multiple clean shots to the head.Hopkins will be able to hit Pavlik anytime and probably anywhere he wants to. The biggest threat to Hopkins is probably himself (his dimished stamina and workrate). The real question in my mind is does Hopkins have a recipe to take Pavlik out of his game for 12 rounds? Nobody punhes more than Calzaghe and Calzaghe barely won. If Pavlik doesn't land a lucky right hand he may be in for a long nite unless of course he's a better boxer than he appears to be which isn't likely. Hopkins on the other hand will undoutedly get his shots in, have the superior defense, superior skills superior experience and has fought better opposition. Pavlik's power is one advantage; its exciting just imagining Hopkins getting knocked out but Hopkins has many more advantages. Pavlik just might connect but like Tyson v Holyfield, Holmes v Cooney, Hopkins v Trinidad and Hopkins v Tarver--stranger things have happened.

But I wonder how biased the Golden Girls are in these predictions, eh?

Regardless, I agree with you. Their opinion matters much more to me than anyone else posting on this thread.

I was going to comment on all your over-confidence before the fight, but it's so much more fun to do it afterwards.

I mean hey, I favored Pavlik to win too but wasn't crazy enough to insult a bunch of pros for their picks.

                Joe Calzaghe

"Pavlik, who is he? He might get his ass kicked by Hopkins. But I think he will win the fight, mainly due to his youth. Hopkins still has the ability to make it very messy. Regardless, he is definitely over hyped.”

calslappy wants to get his ass kicked.
