i got a lot of respect for Cotto and this only enhances that but he is getting KO'd again. Cotto cant hurt margarito and he cant fight inside against Margarito like he loves to do! Margarito would attack him nonstop again and put so much pressure on Cotto that i just see him wearing out again before being KO'd!

i will go with Cotto in the rematch, he needs better training, but I think he can pull it off.

Your boy Roy got put on his ass twice in a row and look at him now. Cotto took a knee because it was the smart thing to do. Why stay up and get hurt badly? He was thinking about the future. Take a knee, take a breath and hopefully finish the round. It just didn't happenned. That night Cotto didn't fight as he usually does. Didn't move as much and had his back to the ropes too much. I think that in a rematch it'll be a different story. Cotto by UD.

That's just it. He didn't box well at all to be honest. He fought well, but didn't box well. You know why he's willing to take the rematch? It's because he knows that he didn't box well and that if he does, he will be able to win pretty easy. Lying on the ropes and trying to KO a guy that you can't KO is not good boxing. Realising that you can't hurt him half way through the fight when you've expended a lot of energy and not having a back up plan is really bad planning. Expending everything you had left on moving too much because you know you can't hurt him and not knowing what to do after that ... is not good boxing.

If Cotto learns from this fight he can win. He has all the tools to be able to beat Margarito. If he actually gets a good trainer, because we all know he basically trains himself, or if he can actually train himself to box properly then he can win it easily. I don't mean easily literally, but I mean easily in comparison to the first fight. What he did in the first six or so rounds, he could do easily for the full twelve. If he trains right.

If he learns to stay completely off the ropes and spin Marg and clinch him after or during exchanges he could hit Marg and be out before Marg could do anything. The speed difference was very evident in the first fight. That is what he has to concentrate on. He simply has to keep shooting fast counters and touching Marg. When they get in close, either spin out, step to the side or clinch and take it back to the centre of the ring. Sounds easy, but these guys are pro's and Cotto is talented. He can win it next time, unless of course he comes in and tries a similar thing and goes for the KO.

You are acting like Cotto tried to stay in there with Marg all night when that is obviously not what happened.

Cotto was fighting a defensive fight and did everything he could to keep Marg off of him and be out of range he just couldn't. He got worn down and eventually lost it all.

THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED.

You cant box much better than Cotto did, and he will not.

Cotto could pull it off but he's taking a chance. If he gets KOed again he's gonna have a big hole to climb out of. He's better off going after another guy at 147 like Berto or Clottey. Cotto's style is food for Margarito. Margarito wants you to stand in front of him.

agreed everyone who I have talked to that has been in the ring with Tony will attest dude is a strong sonofabitch and is very hard to hold on to

It's probably not a very good idea to try and clinch Margarito in my opinion. He'll just lean on Cotto and tire him out like Wlad does to his shorter/smaller opponents. All the while Tony will hit him wherever he can inside the clinch which would raise his connect percentage and cause more damage to someone who doesn't take sustained punishment nearly as well as he can dish it out.
