I'd have stopped it myself at about the same time, though I don't think I'd have jumped on Taylor like that. I might've backed Pavlik off and given Taylor a count, but he was badly hurt, defenseless, and had caught a few nasty shots because he'd been held up a little by the ropes. I don't think there's any chance he could've come back with anything left, even if he had managed to beat a count, which I doubt.

The fact that he stayed down so long after proves Smoger was right.
Boy wasn't in any mood to get up.

I gotta give JT credit. The man took a rematch and fought other hard fighters like Winky and Hop as well.

He's not the best boxer in the world and is very flawed but I would never question the man's heart or will.

JT got put to sleep! not to be a jerk, but maybe you should watch it again...if i'm not mistaken, you can here JT ask smoger "what happened"? "is the fight over"?...so yeah, good stoppage, the man was sleep.

No, absolutely you can't question that kid's heart. I like him quite a bit, always have. He's a decent, humble kid from Little Rock who does his very best to win and put on a show for the fans. I'd like to see him rise to the top again, and think I will. He's still a bit green, you know, and I think he was rushed slightly on his first trip up. He's fought great opponents and while some say he's been boring, it's not because of anything he did, at least in my opinion....Manny tends to have that affect on his fighters sometimes.

I'm not a big Taylor fan but I'm with you: You can't question the kid's heart or his willingness to fight top opponents even if it risks losing. Would that all top fighters were like that! He took the Pavlik rematch without a second thought where other fighters might have been leary after after being put to sleep like that. Clearly he learned from the first fight because he fought much smarter in the second which was much more competitive.

I don't know what audio you're listening to but Taylor looks dazed and a little shocked the ref stopped it. His corner looked pissed. Maybe it was a good stoppage but I still say give the champ a count. He's earned it.

                JT was out.

                Smoger saved a death.

Sure it was a quick stoppage. Like how Trinidad-Vargas was.

Taylor stayed down even after Pavlik was declared the winner. Not only that the ref can see things you can't so I am sure he had a good reason to call it right there. Taylor was hurting, real bad. Not only from Pavlik's blows but from complete exhaustion. He was done.

Nobody with any fight left in them just slumps down limp like that...
