DDUK, get back to me when you can defend Calzaghe outright, or even better, are big enough to face the facts, without dragging names like Hopkins, Jones, and De La Hoya into it as a lame attempt to divert attention from your idol.

Also, the "career choice" excuse? Nice vague analysis that is, meaning absolutely nothing. Of course it's a "career choice". So is Taylor deciding he could make 160 for a few more fights or saying he wanted $10 million to face a fellow undefeated champion (which is not that out of the realm of possibility, considering what Joe and Bernard made when they fought). The difference is that Calzaghe says one thing then does another, and then acts like he never said the first thing to begin with, going so far as to talk utter ****e about another fighter in the process.

Yeah Jeff "comletely average" Lacy is gonna KO Taylor
If Jermaine is in shape and focused there is no way he loses this fight. And if he continues to stay focused and in shape he will make a very big impact at SMW, Id give him an excellent shot against anyone in the division.

Is it really so hard to believe that a couple of years ago when the quote was made, Joe Calzaghe, like everybody else thought that Roy Jones was done and should retire, but that since Roy fought on and has looked at least credible, would now like to take the opportunity to fight him?

I'm not sure changing your mind about something is quite sufficient grounds for your entire career and character to be denounced, do you?

Said he would fight the winner of Cotto/Margarito.
Then said he would not fight another Mexican.
Then said he might. Is not facing either.

Said he would not fight Hatton as he's too light.
Has now a fight with an even lighter Pacman.

These are just some of them, and there far more clear cut more indefensible ones than that of Calzaghe. Yet you don't hear of them even half as much.

            Funny that.

Actually citing your specific example, if you EVER posted about anything other than Joe Calzaghe or looked anywhere else you might have seen the literally DOZENS of threads slamming Oscar in the last two months (ever since this Pac fight was announced).

Abadger, never heard back as to whether this adequately met your criteria:

                1. That interview wasn't a couple of years ago, because Joe is discussing facing Hopkins in his next fight.

                2. Roy looked "credible" against a couple of relatively unaccomplished fighters and a blown up, past-his-prime Tito Trinidad. "Credible," like you said. Not good, not great, but "credible." To me that doesn't seem like enough to change someone's mind.

                3. I've not once denounced Joe's entire career, only his character as of late. and yes, changing your mind in the fashion Joe did, with the comments he's made recently, instead of just admitting that he changed his mind or only wants to fight guys his age or whatever, is sufficient grounds for his character to be questioned in my book. I wouldn't have a problem if he came out and said he realized he was getting older, slower, weaker, or whatever after the Hopkins fight and thought wiser than to take on young bulls at this point in his career (Mosley did this after his last fight, commendably so). Instead Joe is still acting like he is the biggest turd in the bowl.

I never saw that! Well, I must say you have uncovered Calzaghe haters gold! I really didn't know there was actually hard evidence of Joe changing his mind.

Clearly Joe has changed his mind over who he would like to fight. If this is enough to make Joe a 'weasel' and worthy of the withering criticism you subject him too, then that's up to you.

I don't think it does though, as we all change our mind at one time or another, as is our right, especially when we are a boxer choosing an opponent for what may be our final fight. Calzaghe isn't duty bound to choose the opponent you want him to, or even the one he once said he thought he would, this sense of him 'having' to do it exists only in the minds of his critics.

All signs point to your correctness. Joe has said more than once, his book AND recent interviews that Jones wasn't worth fighting and that basically he is a joke now. LOL. Way to go Joe.

Read my comments just above. Changing his mind doesn't make him a weasel, but the reasons for which he's doing it (or more precisely, his honesty about those reasons) is what makes him a weasel in my eyes. Going from saying Jones has not looked impressive in his last few fights and fighting him at this stage would be a disappointment, to saying you look forward to facing a legend who can still fight, is definitely somewhat shadey, is it not?
