Floyd Sr. ruined any chance Hatton had of beating Malignaggie

I already made my pick for this fight a long time ago:

But with the recent comments Hatton has made, - "Hatton: "I Will Outbox Malignaggi, Knock Him Out" - I'm now 100% he will lose. Because of Floyd Senior, he now has a false sense of confidence about what he can do just like Arturo Gatti did before he fought Floyd Mayweather......remember that??

Because of Buddy McGirt, Gatti actually thought he could go in there and box with Floyd using his jab and movement. McGirt convinced him and gave him a false sense of security that he could do it, until reality kicked in the fight. Had Gatti actually been agressive and went after Floyd head first, he might've not lost as bad as he did.

Like McGirt, it's all on Floyd Senior now. Will he try to change Ricky too much? Does he expect too much out of him? Lets face it, he only has trained guys who already had alot of natural boxing and athletic ability like Guzman, Dawson and Delahoya. But also WTF was Hatton thinking hiring him as a trainer???? Does he think he will teach him the shoulder roll so he won't get knocked out by wide counter hooks like he did?

    Dumb decision by Ricky Hatton.

It may be a problem...but as much as I like Paulie...I don't see Hatton losing to him easily...Paulie holds a lot too, but Hatton can maul his way in clinches and put on so much pressure that Paulie is uncomfortable..

I don't think Hatton will all of a sudden change his style...some defense will get better...but at the end of the day, I see him resorting back to what made him the "Hitman"

I expect Hatton to lay a pretty decent beat down on Paulie.

I dont think Ricky has the capacity to understand how to box Malignaggi especially seeing that Ricky's bestwork is done inside you are prolly right. How is Ricky supposed to surprese the insticts that made his career? He aint an outside fighter.

nah hatton might go in there and try to box, but his natural aggression will take over and start tearing into malignaggi

That's the thing. Paulie has great footwork.......even better then Floyd's. Better then Collazo's, that he won't let Ricky hold and clinch as much as you think.

He will escape alot of the clinches and continue his basic boxing of jabbing, staying on his toes and throwing combos. And if Hatton thinks he can just stand there, pretend like he has a shoulder roll defense, then he is really ****ed.

Hatton was a fantastic boxer pre-Tszyu, he picked up bad habits after that fight, I used to a big fan of Hattons up until that point.

I don't see the difference between him then and after. He was very dirty fighter vs Tszyu and got away with it. The only thing that happened was he realized his LIMITATIONS as a fighter when he went up and almost lost to Collazo.

At that point, he promoptly went back down to 140, got a few wins under his belt getting his confidence back, all to get his ass kicked once more at 147, this time a TKO loss.

And now he rebuilding again, this time firing an old trainer and hiring a defensive specialist in Floyd sr because he couldn't even keep Lazcano from landing on him in his hometown.

I do too, but I don't think Floyd Sr. is a good fit with him.
