True Story. Also, and I find it hard to utter this with a straight face, but if JC's camp approached Pav's camp and offered up the beginnings of a match - LMAO - why would Pav's team not tell him about it? Jesus Christ Joe, just get owned and retire already, Pav doesn't need you anyway.

No I believe Joe said that Pavlik didnt call him out. And he didnt mention him. The interviewer did. Like I said Pavlik didnt make a firm challenge or anything. He just said "i'll fight whoever".

"I'll fight whoever" with the implication that includes Calzaghe is a LOT more than Joe is saying right now. For that alone Pavlik gets the edge when it comes to respect.

And Pavlik was the one who started the trash talking with the "shoot him in the leg" comment. So you dont get it twisted. Cheers.

1st of all... after the lacy fight, why would Joe who dominated 168 go challenge a young, green prospect Kelly Pavlik? and what would he gain by beating him? I think Joe is the one lying. And well u never know Joe may have challenged Pavlik who at the time was a nobody...which makes up 85%(i'm being nice) of fighters he's fought.. so yea I kinda believe Joe in that sense.

I'm not sure if all of those fit in this conversation and I'm sure you have heard of a few of them, but it's tough to come up with those when on the spot. Funny how that works, huh. Good stuff though.

So..................are you like super excited about the fights coming up in the fall/winter months? I've got a few I really want to see. The Mosley/Mayorga should be a blast as well as the Klitschko/Peter fight. If Vitali comes back and wins, "I'll be over the moon". Let me know which ones you are excited to see. Did you hear that Froch is getting his shot a Jean Pascal finally? That should be a great fight and I hope to see it. Boxer vs. Brawler! Always some action.

You guys are looking at this all wrong. Joe Calzaghe is simply becoming a businessman, and successful promoter. Consider the following:

-[JoeCal] Says all kinds of junk to get into the head of the guy who America is ready to embrace [Pavlik].

-What sells a fight better than one guy who's loved vs. one guy who's hated? Nothing. It's the same reason a record number of people tuned in for last year's Super Bowl; everyone wanted to watch the Patriots lose.

-Calzaghe quickly becomes the man that everyone loves to hate. A classic villain. People want to watch him squirm.

-Pavlik is a wrecking machine, which provides entertainment in it's own right, and is the perfect antecdote (at least hopefully) to a villain that everyone wants to see get clobbered.

-If Pavlik wins, and Calzaghe wins, there's no way a matchup between the two would be anything less than inevitable. Joe doesn't need the fight, as his legacy is strong, and Pavlik should be fighting Abraham and Sturm, but still, this would be an event. A major event. If they put it on free television, boxing would be right back at the American forefront. (While the latter is a stretch-dream, it would make sense if they truly wanted what was best for the sport.)

So, either everyone in here is right, and Joe Calzaghe is just a jerk; or, he's setting up something brilliant.

Calzaghe is a liar. Anyone who spends time on this forum knows this. His accusations do not match up with the press releases that have come out in recent months. In addition to being a liar it seems he is a complete Doosh bag. Calzaghe probably has a bright future in fight promotion. He's manipulative and actually believes his own bull****.

Lack of IMMEDIATE response simply means Pav's too busy to address all the crap that bombards him in the news.

You admit to being biased, and when you're biased, it's easy to
distort things for your convenience, but don't convince yourself of what
you WANNA believe. Cause they BOTH can't be telling the truth, and lack of immediate response isn't hard evidence.

I dont get these kind of situations. even if hypothetically Pavlik DID turn down a fight against Calzaghe in the past, he wants the fight now.

....who cares if someone 'ducked' you in the past, if they want the fight now, let it happen. otherwise that person is just as bad as the guy hes pointing his finger at.
