I think what people get confused about is they think the art of boxing is better for fighting than MMa is. That's obviously not true, MMA is boxing + a whole lot more.

The difference is, MMA fighters usually suck at what they do, they never seem to be as fast, punch as hard or even throw as much.

top boxers get payed more, and generally the better fighters will flock to the higher payed sport. This is why the better fighters are boxers and not MMA fighters. Top MMA fighters make 90-200k a fight, top boxers make 10-20 million a fight.

My point being said, if a Top boxer trained as hard with MMA, he'd be an incredible MMA fighter.

ex. Imagine if Roy Jones trained in MMA since he was 5....*shudders*

Bro have some respect for oscar! he has done so much for the sport he kept it alive...I would expect more from someone with an Avatar of Hoost.[/QUOTE]

respecting Oscar De La Hoya is a past tense term. but if all he's gonna do is go on TV and promote himself and tell everyone to watch his fights, because there the BIGGEST in boxing Bob Arum and Don King can effectively do the same thing.

im sick to death of De La Hoya. (does he ALWAYS have to be in the limelight?)

and when was boxing on life support?

that's a fabrication of the media to get people interested. if boxing was in such a dire state, or "dead" why would it be even talked about at all?

IMO it seems like a bad idea for a Sports network to waste time on covering what they've called a "dead sport"

and yes i am referencing the topic, because this guy's opinion of "boxing dying" wasn't his own, I've seen the same argument come from i believe Sports Illustrated.

plus how does your scenario of DLH kayoing Pacquiao help at all?

all it could potentially give us is ANOTHER big money fight with DLH-Hatton. how does that help boxing?

it might help the short term, but long term boxing needs to move on and build up other stars besides DLH.

and how is that such a bad thing? Other stars then DLH, I know it sounds crazy, but I'd like to see something new for a change.
