The 70-30 purse won't fly well with pacman i know it wouldn't fly well with me if i was moving up two weight divisions to fight a man like ODLH....he will get screwed out some money watch what i tell you....I hope this fight doesn't happen pacman needs to gone head and fight soto or valero....Winner fights campbell vs guzman eventhough i think guzman will win....Pacman vs Guzman would be very entertaining cause i think guzman would outbox him and could stop him with his style...
the fight purse should at least be 60-40 or 65-35 at least.
why the **** did Pacman insist on 8 oz gloves. He better hope his chin holds up against a welterweight punch, still the man's is nutz. He should have conceded the glove size, get more money and fight at 147.
hey there buddy. long time.
I don't think Oscar is going to use an 8oz glove.
Most likely he will use a 10oz one.
Manny negotiated for an 8oz glove since he knows
his power will be more effective with an 8oz vs a 10oz glove.
Yes he had excellent footwork, a perfect fighting machine in fact, ALWAYS in position, after throwing a punch, to follow up with 1-2-3-4 or more other punches. In my opinion anyway, the most lethal heavyweight-including Dempsey- ever.
Prime Tyson was perpetual motion with fists flying from all angles including multiple successive punches with the same hand, something not expected by an opponent.
He and his trainer had worked out a series of punches identified by NUMBERS, and the trainer, Rooney, would call out the numbers when needed. This way, he had instantaneous access to a change of tactics, in mid round if needed, and perhaps 2-3 tactics changes in the same round.
A brilliant system.
Nearly every punch Tyson threw had written KO on it.
Am I the only one that thinks that 8 oz. gloves benefits Pacquiao? I think that Pac's hand speed would be heightened with the lighter gloves and they have less padding than the 10 oz. I was hoping the fight wouldn't be made for Manny's health. Oh well, here's to hoping that Oscar gets KTFO.
Oscar is past his prime. Manny has a good chance of beating him in my opinion. Those old legs won't be able to keep up with Pac Man.
He won't need to "keep up with him". He's quite fast enough as it is, and has a very good left Jab, which should keep little Manny away, with the additional advantage of being able to convert it into a lethal hook with no warning. In the heavier weights a 15 or more advantage along with 3-6 inches is not any great problem, but in the lighter weights the SAME weight and height translate exponentially into a tremendous advantage.
Offhand, I can recall a couple who could overcome a situation like this, but they were master boxers, [which Manny isnt].
One was a lightweight, Sweetpea Whitaker, who was 5' 7", and the other was a middleweight, Lazslo Papp, who was only 5' 5", both superb boxers, full of skills.
I'm sure there are many others, but the assets they had to aid them. Manny doesn't have, and if he keeps walking into it, is not fluid in changing tactics. He just gets discouraged and delivers more of the same. Just my opinion.
