If you can find anyone who was actually going to buy the fight in the first place, then you might be able to get some people to boycott it.

I don't drop money on ****ing terrible fights.

There are plenty "more of a joke" fights than Pac v DLH. Such as... Pavlik v Lockett... Hatton v Lazcano... etc...etc... These were ****ing 10:1 12:1 odd fights and no one was talking near as much **** or crying so much.

Don't Like It.. Don't Watch It! That's How Plain and Simple!!!

common'you guys.. most of you are dumb ass.. really! everybody knows why DLH fighting Manny, it's for money!!! and you guys instead wanted him to face the bests in welterweight divisions and because it wont happen this time then you are growling like an idiot lion! Margarito.. Cotto.. etc. can wait while DLH settling for the big money for the maintime! Except when you fools believes that DLH will retire after Manny!

And because of this many intrigues and criticisms that surfaced that made this fight pushed through! Because I bet despite of this very "ïrregular" nature of the match will make you watch this bout no matter how you hates it! Guaranteed!!!

yeah but were Pavlik v Lockett and Hatton vs Lazcano PPV fights in the United States?

Pavlik vs Lockett was a mandatory fight for Kelly's WBO belt shown on regular HBO

Hatton vs Lazcano was shown on Versus in the USA, and was Ricky Hatton's tune up

where Pac-Man vs Oscar De La Hoya is HBO PPV.

how can you compare the 3?

one was a mandatory fight, another a tune up, and this

well it's just awesome. so could we please get a "fight negotiation" update in the next 3-4 hours?

Oscar has any option he wants, and he picks the smallest guy. Not Margarito, Paul Williams, Winky Wright, Cotto or Cintron. LETS BOYCOTT THIS BULL****!!!!!

I've never been a Mexican. I've never been a Mexican-American. I've only been to Mexico four times, in fact, and the last trip ended with me throwing up in the Cancun airport on the way to an overnight hospital stay when I finally returned home.

I've also never been a Filipino. I've never been to the Philippines. And I freely admit that most of what I know about the island nation comes from two sources -- my 11th-grade Social Studies teacher, Anthony Franc; and a former co-worker in my former home state, Annie Marcelino.

For the record, I've never been anything other than a humble native of Niagara Falls, N.Y., born to a wonderful Scottish immigrant mother and a hard-working Irish-American father, neither of whom qualified for "world traveler" designation during their combined 141 years of life.

And maybe that's why I don't get the whole "vengeance is mine, sayeth De La Hoya" thing.

Perhaps if I'd been born somewhere else and had grown up somewhere else, I might actually understand the logic that the "Golden Boy" -- a justifiably proud Mexican-American -- has suddenly come up with while pondering an opponent for his long-awaited winter swan song.

Because to these lily white Anglo-Saxon ears, what's been reasoned so far is pretty ridiculous.

To hear Oscar tell it, he was sufficiently dissed by former trainer Freddie Roach's claim he can no longer "pull the trigger" at age 35 to scrap a rumored plan to meet the Margarito-Cotto winner for a chance at ultimate 147-pound supremacy -- and instead meet Roach's top charge, Manny Pacquiao.

Yes, that Manny Pacquiao. The WBC's lightweight champion. Who's had exactly one fight at 135 pounds. Who's had exactly zero fights above 135 pounds. And who as recently as 1999 was KO'd for a championship in the flyweight division by an opponent weighing 112 pounds. [details]

                WAR PINOY!!

To add to what someone else already said to your comment, neither Pavlik or Hatton were taking those opponents as their "farewell" fight either while boasting that it would secure or add to their legacies. There are plenty more joke fights happening, I agree, but this one is the biggest because DLH has more options and is choosing to take the easiest and lowest risk involved match. Truth is, everyone here read that he said he'd fight the winner of Margarito-Cotto and now there is no talk of that and that is the fight that everyone wants to see Oscar take.

Does that really shock you? Filipino's think Pacquiao can knockout a grizzly bear.
