Did Joe Calzaghe ruin Jeff Lacy or was he nothing special to begin with?

I agree with you. It's possible that if he hadn't had his confidence taken away that early then he might have done okay. But I still don't like his style. There was no jab there, he just kinda walked in and threw hooks and inside punches. It was like Tyson but without the speed or head movement, so I can see why they thought he was Tyson. I still think that would have gotten him clobbered, that and his eventual shoulder injury seems to have taken it's toll.

I think he actually has a good jab when he decides to use it. He was working well off the jab in his last fight but then he seemed to panic when he got hit and resorted back to swinging hooks.

No i was never a Lacy "nuthugger". yes I was on MMA.Tv. Yes back on BOXINGscene at the time I thought Calzaghe was avoiding Lacy with the hand injuries. Remember the hand injuries Captain Stalker? Why did I say this at the time? He never fought anyone who challenged him from over in the States.

As for his jab, yes he does. Problem is he never uses it. So it doesn't really matter. His fight plan is all wrong. I agree with the panic and swinging hooks bit.

Fair enough. Roy jones didn't bother with him because he was a nobody then. it was HE who pretended to challenge Roy Jones.

Look it's really simple. Lennox Lewis. Take him for example. He spent his entire career calling out people. They ducked HIM. Why? Cause he came over here, and fought anyone anytime. I think Bowe was great...but Lewis was ducked. Why don't I think the same for Calzaghe? Oh there has to be some reason.....

I will use HATTON as an example. People looked at Hatton and was like WHO IS THIS BUM (in America), well everyone obviously picked Mayweather to win because he was popular and undefeated. Joe Calzaghe was just like Hatton to AMericans just another BUM that no one knew or cared about. BUT Personally I don't call Hatton a BUM. I think he's more of a Champion than Calzaghe will ever be. If I were a fan of LACY I would admit that I was, BUT I am not, I don't care for either Lacy or Calzaghe. Neither one Impresses me. Not even the slightest. BUT if Joe were to beat Jones in Nov and FIGHT PAV (not even beat, just fight) I would have more respect than I do now. I still wouldn't like him but I would have more respect for him.......
