If I had to choose an outcome I would say Bernard by a close decision. I would just give him the edge in relation to his ability to make Joe miss enough whilst scoring pretty effectively himself.
Yea Joe would MAYBE bring more power but "IF" he got threw a YOUNG B HOPS defense he would probably break his hands on HOPS head. I doubt the little bit extra power a young calzaghe would bring to the ring would make any difference to a PRIME YOUNG HOP.

A young Joe and the Joe of today fights the SAME way, he fights to win the rounds by points... nothing more nothing less. The man cant do anything but throw many many punches to impress the judges to win the rounds with points.

A young HOP would walk right threw every "punch" and counter a hell of a lot more than he did at 43. HOP by UD. easy day......

Hopkins would throw more giving Calzaghe more opportunitys to counter back instead of just using his head, Hopkins made it a ugly fight a prime Hopkins would box more rather than spoiling tactics which is why I think Calzaghe would win crazy I know. I didn't even score there fight close I gave Hopkins 3 rounds + the knockdown. A couple of good shots doesn't win you a round.

People use the age excuse for Hopkins loss to Calzaghe....but Calzaghe was no spring chicken either, he was past his prime too....Calzaghe hit way harder in his prime before all the hand injuries.
u must b bias cuz joke-cal-slappy didnt even win in there fight so what makes u think he would win in there prime, plus he dont hit harder, never did never will.

A prime Hopkins was just as smart as he is today and he also wasn't reckless the way you are making him seem. He was very percise with shots, made all of them count and had far better stamina then he does today. He also used spoiling tactics when he was in his prime. Just look at his fight with Trinidad. He grabbed when he had to, roughed him up on the inside and out boxed him from a distance. He fought the same way he he fight now, its just that he did it faster when he was in his prime and had more in his arsenal. Other than Power, i can't not see how Calzaghe was better in his prime than he is now. Only releying on your power against Hopkins wouldn't be wise as he always had ways of nullifying his opponents best weapons.

I just can't see Calzaghe beating a prime Hopkins when a 43 year old Hopkins embarrassed him. Again i like Calzaghe and i love the way he fights, but a young Hopkins was simply too good.

He knocked him down, roughed him up throughout the fight and even at 43, managed to have people believing that he won the fight. Calzaghe was about a 3 to 1 favorite if i am remembering correctly.

Hopkins wins a very easy U.D in his prime.

The knockdown was fair enough, Calzaghe got up and was fine. Anyone who fought Hopkins won that fight should never be allowed to score fights again. Hopkins didn't do **** all in that after round 1. Anyone can rough up anyone if your headbutting them every round.
