Why would he take 20 million to fight cotto now?

Arum will never give Floyd 35+ million
I've thought about that too. About the only thing I can think of is that Floyd dislikes Oscar so much that he walked away just so that Oscar wouldn't make out. So maybe on a 60/40 and if he promotes it, he'll take the fight with Cotto.
But Cotto would need to beat Oscar to get the marketability to make adequate numbers. Even if he wins Saturday, he gets big in terms of the boxing fans, but in terms of broad appeal is probably still lacking.

Bob Arum is so full of ****!

This is the ammunition that the "Floyd Haters" love. Too bad you can't have it both ways.

So I have a question for this hypocrite of a promoter. When Floyd was with company ("Top Rank") Bob Arum often remarked at how Floyd was the most skilled boxer he's EVER promoted. So now we're supposed to believe what he says here??

Here's my issue with him and other Floyd Haters. He's GONE. Why evoke his NAME in the promotion?? Yes his name was reference on the "COUNTDOWN". Why not just let him be and build up Miguel and the monolithic style slugger Marg???

the reason why is that he knows he can't sell this and reached the maximum audience he wants without Floyd thats way..

Great point and I agree with your sentiments. Remember after Mosley beat DLH the second time and they were negotiating for a 3rd fight?? Oscar totally lowballed Shane his (so called) partner (token) in Golden Boy now.

What I don't understand from both of them is that the 2nd fight was NOT going to do anywhere near the first fight and I didn't think the first fight was all that bad myself. I'm glad that charade didn't occur.

I think the reason Floyd "left" (temporarily) deals with him having a huge nest egg and finally being at the point where he can call shots (not Bob Arum) along with needing a break from the sport and most importantly to rest his hands.

As much as I hear about Floyd on these message boards his hand issues are RARELY discussed and they've been well known since 2002..

May I ask again what excuses?

Sigh. May I remind you guys that fighters pay promoters. Promoters don't pay fighters. Not at that level.

That's true... health issues are never been brought up here... why do you think he has parts in his career where he not fought many times. It was not like he was in wars or something. His body started to decline. That's also one of the reasons why he started to fight more known ppl and was not in there for the biggest challenge. He knew he only had a few fights left, so he ain't wanted to waste one IMO. But don't bring it up here dude... a guy like Floyd who supposed to be the best, has to be like superman. And that his body started to betray him is not a good reason to retire. You got to be a warrior, get beat up and finally loose to go with respect.

These dudes simply have no idea of boxing and especially about training camps and what a toll it takes on your body... Floyd started as a child so it's clear that he has a shorter career, like a Hopkins who started with 20 something... but don't bring it up... that's the most unlogical thing to the Floyd haters... Floyd is superman... a ***** but superhuman *looooooooooooooooooooool*
