It's like saying, Joe Calzaghe beat Manfredo in a few rounds, that means he'll beat Pavlik, Pavliks team doesn't want no part of Calzaghe

Luke-X - There is no way joe will ko Pavlik no way.
This is how I see the fight going:

Joe wins the first few rounds comfortably, and is slipping shots well and countering effectively. Pavlik catches Joe with a big shot and hurts him slightly, although Joe doesn't go down. The fight plays out the same way until the mid to late rounds, when Pavlik hits Joe hard and Joe goes down. Joe recovers fast and is up early, but Pavlik swarms all over him. Joe knows he either has to cover up or let rip himself. The fighter in Joe takes over and he throws caution to the wind in the way that only he can and tears Pavlik up toe to toe. Pavlik gets hit with some big shots (Joe no longer holds back on his shots and hurts Pavlik if he throws full power) and goes down himself. Joe throws impressive flurries that force the ref to stop the fight.

Has happened in so many of Joe's fights, against opponents who were also KO artists who supposedly had iron chins.

Watch Calzaghe vs Mitchell. Mitchell had a reputation as a massive puncher at the time. He caught Joe flush in the 2nd round, and did exactly what Pavlik would do, he went in for the kill. Joe took a step back and ended Mitchell's night early with a superb hook that finished the never been stopped previously Mitchell.

Calzaghe hasn't had a KO win in YEARS -- forget it, he doesn't have the pop anymore, and Pavlik will absolutely beat the snot out of Joe if they were to meet. Pavlik has already faced speed, and he KO'd speed, he already faced MUCH more power the Calzaghe has, and he KO'd power too. The best Joe could do is run and try to pop shot Kelly, and that won't work all night.

Personaly, I doubt seriously that Calzaghe has the balls to fight Pavlik, he would much rather fight a way past prime RJJ, even though Jones has no Title to offer. For that matter, Jones wouldn't fight Pavlik at this point either.

If Calzaghe by sheer ******ity signs to fight Pavlik - I will bet ALL my points here on Pavlik to win.

Pavlik throws Joe Calzaghe his first defeat if Jones doesn't -- the difference is Kelly will KO Calzaghe, if Jones beats Calzaghe, it will be by decision....

Joe will be landing all sorts of shots from angles so obscure that Kelly wont know what is hitting him from where. In the words of Ali, Joe will hit Kelly so much "that he thinks he's surrounded".
I can barely believe that you even had the gaul to write that complete crap like that.

I agree, Joe fights well when pressured. He has proven that in quite a few fights. However, to be incinuating that he hits or could possibly hit harder than Taylor is close to a retarted statement. He has almost no single punch KO power at ALL. Taylor does possess that kind of punch and 8 lbs will not change that very much. It took Taylor about 11 or so clean, un-answered punches to finally drop Pavlik, who was not even really hurt. He got right back up, moved to his corner for the count to reset himself to go back to work. Wich he did, obviously. I know that Joe does not have the kind of power it will take to KO Pavlik, so he will have to rely on a decision that will not be easy. No matter what you or the other die hard Joe Calzaghe fans say on here. It will be a close fight and the winner deserves one hell of a congratulations.

I agree. Joe is getting older. Kelly is a strong fighter. I have always felt that Kelly would beat Joe.

that's what a lot of people are saying now, "Pavlik ko'd Lockett(who?) he will ko Joe"

once you're boy steps up he will get that first L
But it would be a very exciting fight, and Pavlik looked good tonight vs Lockett

Okay, I get the pun now. I just came in at the end. I guess Pavlik fans are making it more of a deal because Enzo was Lockett's trainer and he was expected to do better. I knew how it would go, but I was impressed with the way Lockett took a knee. So professional. He knew he was going to get clobbered more and knew what he had to do with no shame. I respect things like that. By the way, I am a Rjj fan. I root for Pavlik and Calzaghe on the side. If I had to watch them fight - it would be win , win for me. I like both fighters and its hard for me to root for one or the other. Just don't ask me who will win out of Jones and Pavlik or Calzaghe.

I agree, Taking a knee is "embarassing" but effective, same i like Pavlik a lot since he doesn't do a lot of smack talking and is a hard worker, how can u not be a fan of the guy, I also like Calzaghe a lot too, If the fight is made i'll cheer for both lol but i think Joe would win a close but clear UD

                      Go Pavlik, Calzaghe!
