Why does everyone think Cotto can beat Floyd?

Its like this: Cotto fans (Puerto Ricans mainly) make him out to be a complete beast that will absolutely destory anyone outside of Chuck Norris and PBF fans downplay Cotto like all others.
The truth is that Cotto is the best fighter out there that Floyd hasn't beaten already, but realistically he doesn't have any better of a chance than DLH did. They both have similar strengths and weaknesses, but DLH is smarter in the ring and has better defense. Cotto has a touch more firepower because he won't fatigue as fast as Oscar. But given that the fight would be fought on Floyd's terms (Las Vegas instead of MSG and bigger ring) Cotto won't be quite as competitive as DLH was.
In short, Cotto is getting recognition as the next fighter Floyd should face because.... he is the next fighter Floyd should face. But he's not the guy who's going to beat Floyd Mayweather.

Whether or not he can beat him he deserves a shot at the title. He came up the ranks and has beating every opponent put in front of him. He's a strong champ and would give Floyd problems. At 147 I think Floyd will win, but I don't think Cotto is going to stay there for the next two years in the hopes of getting a shot at the P4P great. At 154 I think cotto beats Floyd in his toughest fight ever by a spilt decision. Floyd beat Oscar at 154 but he definately wasn't at his best.

I never thought that Cotto could beat Floyd, I don't see him as being fast enough to corner Floyd. Cotto is a really good fighter and I'm sick of this "Who has he fought" crap. Who has Cotto fought? He's fought a considerable number of highly regarded prospects at Jr Welter and a couple of highly regarded veterans at Welter.
But I don't see him beating Mayweather.
