I've noticed little guys build muscle easier.

I'm 6'4'' and my arms and shoulder are ripped but I have a serious time trying to tear my pecs to make 'em bigger. All the stocky guys i workout with are pretty much doubling my weight on the machine and > my bench press by like 35 lbs.

    Maybe it's the long arms...

        Just curious to know.
I had watched a lot of fights as I got into boxing very young and on the way up and when he won the title I was in awe of the young man and anyone who say's any different is probably lying. Yes the division wasn't as strong as in some other eras but the way he dispatched his opponents was so exhilerating.

I never thought him unbeatable though and as early as the Tucker fight used to say a fit motivated Witherspoon had the tools to give him a good fight or even beat him. As good as Tyson was even back then I saw a fighter that for some reason could only fight at that ferocity and intensity for 5 rounds and then seemed to lose interest and neglect everything he was great at.

And then much later came to realise he just never had the mental tougness and true heart of a warrior like Holyfield. Don't get me wrong he was by no means a quitter and always took his beatings like a man but he never dug as deep as he could of.

Had he the concentration levels to fight for 12 rounds and a heart as big as a lion he could have been the best. But I will allways be grateful to the young man that totally turned the sport around and gave it some much needed life especially the lacklustre heavyweight division. Heavyweight boxing is now worse than when Tyson was arriving on the scene and it is crying out for a new superstar.

That's some beast ****. A guy I went to school with....was at World class level when it comes to bench press.

he was 5'6'' and benching 325.

I was about 8 inches taller then him, and way stronger and I was only benching 245. And that was on a good day.

THe weight room is overated, IMO.

Yeah I only benched because of wrestling.I had to cause of athletics. That was 2 years. I maxed at 300 but stopped cause thats where I wanted to get to cause I knew I was going to call it a quits on weights. I think I could of gotten my final max at around 400 if I continued till now.I'm 23 now.

my claim to fame at 16 was bench pressing 270lb on the universal. the record i set was being able to bp twice my weight. there were bigger guys that could do a lot more but couldnt do twice their weight.
                i weighed 135lbs.

I dont have respect for most of those stocky men in the weight room though. Most have chicken legs and are not very athletic.

You being an obvious exception cause I've seen you in the ring.

how was wrestling training, btw? I am thinking of joining wrestling for college in a few months. No experience but I figure if someone teaches me I can at least make the team...

Am I dumb thinking that? I know wrestlings a science but strength DOES play a large factor, does it not?

It was free weights. Damn pretty good if you can bench that much at that weight. in 11th grade when I was 16 my max was 280 and I was 140lbs.
